message 7: by Krystal (new)

Krystal (queenravenclaw) Cryssa,
That is funny you mention that because I have an email from her newsletter about the new release. I just need to know if it's a part of her series. As for nominations I can not say because there are too many good ones that I have read as well as haven't read so it's so hard to choose.

message 8: by Cryssa (new)

Cryssa Krystal, it did come out this week so it is timely. The book is part of the Thornleigh series but all the books can be read as stand alone. It's on my reading list.

message 9: by Susanna - Censored by GoodReads, Mod #4 (last edited Jun 01, 2014 08:40PM) (new)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments If it's the sixth book in the series, do we need to have read the others to make sense of it?

ETA: OK, I see it can stand alone; thanks!

message 10: by Miranda (new)

Miranda Moore (windywillows) | 1 comments I've read most of the books by philippa gregory. So any take on the events of the tudors besides her books would be great ! Would be glad for some recommedations.

Interesting. Goodreads has been recommending the book for months now... figured I would finally read it. It has good reviews, so we shall see.

Elizabeth | 15 comments Venus in Winter by Gillian Bagwell

Venus in Winter The tale of Bess of Hardwick—the formidable four-time widowed Tudor dynast who became one of the most powerful women in the history of England.

message 17: by Irene (new)

Irene (reeniebean) As I've read most of the ones already suggested (except for Elizabeth I by Margaret George but that sucker is HUGE), might I instead suggest The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn by Robin Maxwell? It's a short read, making it great for summertime reading, especially for those on vacay? Maybe? Perhaps?

Ashleigh (ashleighbailey) | 8 comments Sumerford's Autumn by Barbara Gaskell Denvil
Sumerford's Autumn - Barbara Gaskell Denvil

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Alright, that looks like a nice number of nominees, so I'll close nominations and open a poll.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments And here's a link to the poll: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1... . It is also featured on the bottom of the home page of the group, right over the "Photos" section.

message 22: by Susan (new)

Susan (suereadsbooks) Great news. I bought this last week when visiting the Tower of London. It may take more than a month to read - its a big read :)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Yeah, if we're still reading it at the end of the month, it may be August's read as well.

message 24: by Gretchen (new)

Gretchen (eab2012) Maybe if people are still actively reading in August I will join. My pile of library books is up to eight for the month. Between my summer reading and my daughter's summer reading, I just don't know if I can tackle the July read. :(
