Hey guys! On the 15th of February the buddy read of "A Darker Shade of Magic" will start!


How does it work?
1) to join write here below

2) try to read one/two chapters a day and briefly comment them (of couse you're not obliged to read just one or two chapters a day, but it would be useful in order to advance at the same pace)
Example:

CHAPTER 1
Ok, the beginning was just soooo amazing! I'm already in love with the main character, even though his personality is a bit creepy sometimes, etc etc

3) Remember to hide the spoilers!

Well you can write spoilers, just use the html to hide them so that no one gets his/her reading ruined :D

I read the first two chapters and I love it so far! Since the chapters are really short I suggest we try and read at least one "part" a day? There's fourteen parts within the book and I think we'll probably manage to read at least one a day.

Sure, no problem! I'm starting chapter 2 right now :D

Ok so I've read the first part. I must say that I have still to fathom all this traveling-between-Londons thing, but it's obvious that I ADORE Kell.

With his sarcastic attitude he can deal with anything and anyone xD The scene in the Stone's Throw with the Enthusiastic was simply hilarious :')

I also just finished part one! I love Kell omg!
I'm very interested in how the magic works, who can use it etc, also I'm excited to meet the other characters in the next parts!
I'm continuing a bit now :D

Unfortunately I must study now T.T History and German literature are calling my name xD
I think I'll continue this evening :D

PART II
(view spoiler)[I've found my first brotp *---* Rhy and Kell are sooooo cute! I like both of them even though they are completely the opposite xD

I really loved this scene :')

I'm a bit perplexed about Kell though... has he been... adopted by the king and queen of Red London or what? And that rune of Mememory on his elbow leaves me rather puzzled :/ I bet the Young Kell witnessed something he shouldn't have seen! (hide spoiler)]

I'm already in part seven, I'm sorry but I have a lot of free time :/
How do you find the whole fantasy/magic aspect? And the writing? I personally really love both!

Woah, part seven? xD Ok, I'll spend the evening reading at least two more parts :')

I like the idea of the different worlds connected by "doors", and in particular the fact that it was the different presence/use of magic to determine the differences between them.

About the magic I only know that it's divided by elements, so nothing original so far. But I suppose some news are coming in the next chapters!

About the style... yep, it's good! Luckily there are no two-page descriptions or similar things XD

No rush girl, I just really want to try to finish both this and AGOS before the third book comes out :D

Yep there's definitely some more you'll find out about magic but I also don't know everything yet.

PART III

Why are all the main characters so amazing? xD Also this part about Lila was enjoyable though short.
I like her strong character and her cleverness, and I look forward to the moment when she and Kell will meet :9 A thief and a magician Collector... yes, it will be really interesting!

I don't know why but I foresee at least one explosion xD

PART IV

The twin rulers of white London are so freaking creepy D: But so far this part was the most interesting one, since things are getting complicated for Kell. I wanna know more about Holland!!! >…<

PART V

I told you that the first meeting between Kell and Lila would have been memorable, and what's more memorable than a robbery?
Even though I'm a bit pissed with Lila for having stolen from a wounded man T.T

Oh my god their first meeting is memorable but wait till you read further!
Those twins are actually terrifying and I feel so bad for Holland T_T

PART VI

Ok, in this part I quite hated Lila, tbh T.T She proved to be a little reckless and unprepared. Of course my poor Kell will have to bring everything back to normal all alone as usual...

And what's that creepy magic smoke possessing people?! D: geez I can't read something like this before going to bed, I have nightmares too easily xD

Honestly I like Lila so far! Sure not everything she does is good but I see why she acts the way she does, and she's ten times less annoying than a lot of other YA heroines!

And you are completely right... but I care for Kell so much that I get angry with anyone who does something wrong to him ahahah xD

PART VII

(view spoiler)[OMG the fighting scene was just so bloody and violent, I really could see before my eyes Kell on his knees coughing blood D:
Really shocking, poor Kell ç...ç

Ans though I despise Holland and fear him, I can't help but be intrigued by him... he' so unpredictable, mysterious, obscure... don't you think so? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I feel the same about Holland, I don't like what he does but I know it's not (entirely?) his fault. I mean he's enslaved to the twins and he doesn't have much of a choice you know? I always feel so bad for this type of characters, I kinda wish we will see his PoV (and my heart will hurt) (hide spoiler)]

Sorry if I don't write first but I'm on part 11 already so I'm letting you comment first so I know where you are! :D
Also I'm planning to finish it today if I can, since I'm sick and can't really do much else other than read :3

PART X

Woah, I'm really enjoying how things are going on! The style is really amazing, because it mixes past events connected to main characters with action, mistery and suspance.

Even though... the more I read, the scarier and creepier the atmosphere becomes xD The dark magic is spreading in such subtle way that I'm afraid it won't be discovered till the end.

The dark magic legit scares me, I think I even had a nightmare about it :/ which I fortunately can't remember.

I'm going to be out all day today so I'll finish it in the evening ;_;

PART XII

(view spoiler)[Holland D: he's finally free from the tweens' grasp... and of course is now dying T.T I was so moved when Kell understands that Holland had willingly not stopped his last attack... he was so tired of being Athos's puppet that he was ready to die... :( (hide spoiler)]

I'M SORRY I'm awful I forgot to update here! I finished the book yesterday and I have no words for how much I love it! I have absolutely no complaints and I found it perfect!
I already started book #2 because I have no chill :')

Don't worry ;) I'll probably get the sequel too, I'm fangirling about Kell and Lila too much and I need to know if something else happens between them :3
