It's not SFF really, but PIRATES!! and MALKOVICH!!

I didn't hate it, but was pretty meh about the pilot. The trailers made it look like it could be terrible or funny/awful but it was much more serious than I expected.

I liked the main character, Tom...spy dude. But Malkovich, /sigh, I hope he either starts chewing scenery bigtime or they give him some really interesting stuff to do (I did enjoy the scene with the acupuncture needles haha). And please, please, what the hell accent was he murdering?

Well, I'm going to give it another couple of episodes, but I was underwhelmed.

That was pretty much why I watched, too. I have to agree, it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible, either. I'll keep watching, maybe because it's summer and there ain't a whole lot on right now. In the fall, it would probably lose my interest a whole lot faster.

Spy Dude Tom is a good character, and Malkovich was Malkovich, which I almost always enjoy. I don't get the accent at all. I mean, wasn't Blackbeard English? I must be remembering that wrong. Hopefully they rachet up Blackbeard's crazy factor and Malkovich will go to town with the role.

I'd love for someone to make a great pirate series. Black Sails left me a bit disappointed, and I get the feeling Crossbones will, too. Hopefully I'm wrong about that. I'll give it a few more episodes and see what happens.

Black Sails was so bad, I'm scared to watch this one.

That is supposed to be Edward Teach/ Blackbeard? Ookay...

I do like the Tom Howe character.
