SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

Hi,
Any one else having problems getting recommendations for fantasy/scifi books on their 'Recommendations by Shelf'?
There are only 10 on my shelf and it hasn't updated properly for weeks, I have over 100 books classed between these categories. Also the recommendations from Goodreads are only based on 2 books in my collection.
My e-book and to-read shelves no longer have any fantasy/scifi recommendations on them either even though both categories have many from these genres in them. I've also tried changing to 'Recommendations by Genre' instead but with no success.

Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

Mine seem to be working okay, although (as usual) probably 75% of them are books that I have no interest in reading. If it hit 'not interested' they usually disappear.

Sometimes it helps to change the name of your shelf- I've found that sometimes dashes/slashes and other punctuation marks screw things up.

Goodreads' recommendations have been so lousy that I stopped paying attention to them long ago. I'm more likely to get good recommendations by asking here.

But since you ask, it looks like mine hasn't updated in weeks either. I don't know if it ever did.

Mine appears to be working, but I also don't look at it very often. It seems like all the recommendations are obscure books with very low ratings.

Go to your shelf settings in the my books tab. Sometimes you have to turn on the recommendations based on your shelves. That may help.

Thanks for the replies, I've changed the name of the shelf slightly by removing some punctuation, may work better. Though your observations are correct Goodreads recommendations in this category do tend to be obscure/low quality!

I believe Al Pacino said it best. The whole @#$% system is out of order.

Well, after many months and a few emails to the administrators finally have these shelves fixed. Rubbish recommendations though :D
