Q&A with Jay Crownover

I have read all of the Marked Men books and the SOD books so far and they are all great. They can be read as standalones. I think it's good to read them in order because the other couples are mentioned from previous books still play a part in the other books in the series. Jay does a good job of setting up the couples in books before their books starts. If you want to read the Marked Men books and SOD books. I would suggest starting with Rule and going in order with the Marked Men books and then read the SOD books. The books can be read out of order.

Thanks, love! You're stellar! Keep up the awesomeness that flows through you! It's totes contagious! Lol *hugs*

A few. I'm not much of a collector of anything really...shoes I guess. I don't like clutter and I don't have a dedicated space in my house to store and display a ton of books. I do have one, very cool decorative shelf with my favorites on them...and my friends

thanks! :)"
I loved TrainWreck with Amy Schumer...and anything John Hughes from the 80's. Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Say Anything

That's something you have to keep reading to figure out for yourself. All those threads tie together if you read all the books.

He's 28

When I first introduced Asa and he was so much trouble...I thought it would be great to have a girl version of him somewhere in the series...for a while I actually thought I was going to have Asa and Avett be a couple, but eventually realized they were far too similar to save each other.
Honestly when I was younger I did a lot of really thoughtless stuff and loved a lot of really thoughtless men for no good reason. I had a lot of fun along the way and earned some good stories but that's all I had to show for those mistakes...I think that's where I was with Avett. As for Quaid...I love the allure of what you see, not being exactly what you get. Plus I liked that he was older...and really could be an executive in the bedroom...I was ready to have a more mature character push some of those boundaries

I did at one point this Asa and Avett were going to have a story to tell....that's happened a few times. Sometimes my characters have their own ideas about things...and chemistry pops up in unexpected places.
Asa is a favorite of mine as well. that's why he plays such a big part in all the SoD books

It's allowed to bother you...I think that situation would be tricky to navigate for anyone...but the fact of the matter is it was that Asa didn't tell her...didn't take the easy road and trash that relationship that meant so much to the girl he loved, that finally redeemed him. It's not a conversation they need to have....they both know....she knows what he sacrificed and he knows what he could have lost if she didn't believe in him. Readers ask about that secret all the time and want some kind of on the page resolution...but no one knows Asa better than I do, he's been inside my head for 5 years....and once he decided not to tell Royal what happened for the greater good...he would stick with that decision come hell or high water.

Of all time Jd Salinger and Catcher in they Rye...in romance Anne Stuart and a book called Ritual sin..."
Awesome, that is about one of the few books my kiddo had to read for school that she didn't hate; she has nephew on the way that is going to be named Holden and she wants me to find a baby sized hat like his lol.

Thanks for all of the great reads. I look forward to everything yet to come!

I just finished Recovered. It's a very angsty NA about a recovering addict and his sober companion...you can read it for free in..."
I'm hooked on Recovered it is so good so far and different. It's torture only getting to read a few chapters at a time. I still have to read the two chapters form this newsletter.

I honestly just keep a list of names I think are cool...ones that are memorable. Emrys is actually someone I know...name wise...but the rest just came to me for one reason or another

You should read any and all Anne Stuart books.
I love Linda Howard and Laura Griffin.
I just started to work my way through Dennis Lehan's books.
Sara Ney is a new favorite as well...oh and Penny Reid...her books are so smart and funny

I just finished Recovered. It's a very angsty NA about a recovering addict and his sober companion...you can read it..."
lol...I'm going to publish it eventually as an entire book

For purely selfish and naughty reasons Tyra from motorcycle man...lol

I do. If you find me on Spotify all my books have playlists listed :) That's usually what I'm listening to at the time

Maybe....I would like to think at the very least his brother would reach out eventually

My favorite is Americana and classic rock. anything singer songwriter based. I also love punk rock.
All my books have playlists listed on Spotify...that tends to be what I was listening to when I was working on them

I hope at least Quaid and his brother can reconnect. I thought it was sad that they drifted apart when they used to be close. Like Quaid said at least he tried with the Christmas card.

There is but there are so many of them 4 different series with multiple books....your best bet would be get on my website and scroll throug..."
Marked Men Series:
Rule
Jet
Rome
Nash
Rowdy
Asa
Saints of Denver: ( Marked Men spin off)
Leveled (novella)
Built
Charged
Riveted
Salvaged
The Marked Men books and Saints of Denver books can be read as standalones but I would suggest reading them in order because there is overlapping in the books. There is set up for couples/hints before each couple gets a book.
Point Series:
Better When He’s Bad
Better When He’s Bold
Better When He’s Brave
Breaking Point Series: (It’s still the Point)
Honor
Avenged (it's a 3 book crossover novella. The guy is from the Point series and the girl is a minor character in the Saints of Denver series. )
Getaway Series
Retreat (book 1)
Standalone book
Recovered (it's only available in a serial if you sign up for Jay Crownover's newsletter. She is writing releasing it chapter by chapter.)

I can do both anywhere...as busy as I am and as much as I travel you sort of have to be. I like to write at a desk best...I'm old..I need lumbar support...lol

I don't really pay attention because they all started out one age at the beginning of the series and now years have gone by...Zeb is 28....Church is closer to 30 like Rome...Poppy is around 24/25 and Wheeler is 26...I think he actually says his age at some point in Salvaged

Making sure their inner dialogue still sounds masculine and not overly flowery....it's hard when you're writing romance to not over do the actual romance in the male POV

What is your favorite thing you've been given by a fan?

Love your work! <3

What is your favorite thing you've been given by a fan?"
It is a well known fact I love Bobs Burgers...so one reader brought me a tattoo flash sheet of nothing but Tina Belcher tattoos. It is the coolest thing ever! I also got a Tina needle point..lol

I'm honestly ready for a break from that world. I'm ready to do new stuff. Next is the rest of the Point, the rest of the Getaway series and my standalone Recovered which is a return to NA. Somewhere along the line I'll prolly go back and so a story for all the 2nd generation MM and SoD kids but no time soon

I don't write for readers. I don't write for the market or for my publisher. I write for me and me alone...so I write whatever pops into my head. I don't think you can have fear and do this job because things are always changing...what people want to read is always shifting. I'm exhausted just thinking about how hard it would be to keep everyone else happy. So I write whatever and whenever. I wrote M/M. I just wrote cowboys...Cora Carmack wants me to write a paranormal set in the Point with demons..lol. I told her I would think about it

I get Cora a lot. I think it's the hair and the tattoos. Honestly she's far more caring and considerate of others than I am. I'm also not maternal at all.
If you've read Retreat and met Leo...honestly she's the most like me. No filter, kind of snarky, really picky about who she lets in her life. I identify the most with her

Love your work! <3"
Probably Dovie...I would love to go toe to toe with Bax all day and I really want to drive his car :)

Maybe. I haven't thought that far ahead. I love both Ari and Greer...I play around with writing novellas for both of them but I have too much on my plate at the moment to fully realize either of their stories. I would say it's a safe bet that Austin ends up with one of them ;)
