Hello everyone!!
Upon receiving an adorable St. Patrick's day themed t-shirt for my daughter, I started thinking about myths, legends and other folktales that us silly little humans celebrate and share over the years and through the generations. So I thought it would be fun to have a myths/legends/folktales theme this month! Share a book you have read or would like to read that is about any sort of mythical awesomeness. It could be a local one from where you're from, one that everyone knows about or just some crazy malarkey no one's ever heard of but sounds interesting. I've always found this stuff super interesting and would love to see what cool books come out of this one!
Thank you all!

Nikki ~ The Nocturnal Bookworm (nyxreadsstuff) Oooooh I like this theme :D

I would like to make 2 nominations:

First Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. This one just came out and I''m super excited for it!! As the title suggests it is based in Norse mythology.

The Second is Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton (It was also released under the title 13th warrior after the movie came out but Eaters of the Dead was the original title) I would say about half to two-thirds of the book is based on Beowulf.

Fantastic!! I've really been wanting to get my hands on Norse Mythology since I first heard about it! and I always love some Michael Crichton! Great recommendations!

Kandice I am going to be reading Norse Mythology no matter what, so would love to read it with the group!

I've read Eaters of the Dead and although it was brilliantly researched (of course, it's Crichton!), I didn't really enjoy the story as it was told. I really disliked the movie.

Shannon Pifher (shannonpifher) | 35 comments I had to read The Odyssey of Homer for a mythology class in college and I actually really loved it. Plus its great because there are so many references to this book throughout literature and am so glad i had the opportunity to read this! Wouldnt mind reading it again.
