Brittany | BrittanyIsBooked (brittanyisbooked) I am finding this list mega-intimidating because I haven't even heard of most of these books! I am wondering if anybody has read books on the list that they would suggest (4-5 star ratings). Thanks!

Bridgett (brikie) | 5 comments Hi Brittany, one suggestion is to look up reviews on YouTube. A lot of readers regularly make video reviews and there's even an informal name for it - Booktube!

My book suggestion for you from the Rooster list is The Mothers by Brit Bennett. It is probably the one book on that list that I've heard almost universally positive things about.

I hope this helps!

I imagine they are all good but I have only read these -
The Mothers - I loved this story, 5* for me
Commonwealth - Ann Patchett writes so well!
Homegoing - another excellent book
My Name Is Lucy Barton
The Girls - oddly compelling version of the Manson girls
The Nest
Before the Fall - quick read that will probably be made into a movie - it's got that feel

I am personally going read Mississippi Noir because I have a thing for hick lit but there are others on my TBR -

I love Louise Erdrich's writing, so LaRose
Same for Margaret Atwood -
The Underground Railroad has been very hyped

do you get Hoopla or Overdrive through your library? A few of these are on those for my library, making it so easy to try new books for free!
