message 124: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Shin: your favorite genre:P:P

message 125: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments I'm not even sure if I have a favourite genre like that. I don't think I can pledge allegiance to one genre like you or Anirudh. How do you two do it? :O :O

But Fantasy sure is my weakness. ^__^

Sumit is invited but I'm not. *ROFC ROFC*

message 126: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Shin: I love Fantasy but I also read other genres. Its just that I'm reading mostly Fantasy this year :)

I wanna join if there's John Green BR, especially if its Looking For Alaska.
Haven't read that yet. :|

message 136: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments :O NEVER! I will die before I do that! :( :(

Lol no seriously, I like reading the book before I watch the film. Which basically means I run from the movie unless I've read the book. :P

P.S- Did you just see how we've completely diverted from discussing A Song for Arbonne and are busy chatting away? Sumit will have our heads now. :P

message 137: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments Vinu, you've read all the others? :O

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) hahahaha.....:D:D:D:D

what can we do? We can't discuss this one until he finish it?? :(:(

before him I think we'll have his head for procrastinating this beautiful book:P:P:P

message 140: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments What do you think? Should we shift this discussion to the chat thread? I'm not sure but I think both Sumit and Sri will call us out on this random chatting on a BR thread. :(

message 141: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) you can discuss your John Green BRs on your own thread, the safest place for you two:P:P

time for me to log out. Bye!!!

message 142: by Shinjini (last edited Jun 30, 2014 05:16AM) (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 3174 comments Bye! :)

And Sumit, if you're reading this, please finish quickly. :|

message 143: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Oh well, looks like the clamour for my head is growing.

1. Good thought to move the chitchat to the chat thread. But well, this isn't a classroom. So, off-tangent discussions, especially if they are somehow related to the topic at hand, should be fine. :)

2. By all means, please discuss the book. I should be finishing this week, unless something drastic happens. It'll be great if you can provide spoiler warnings, so that I can avoid them. Or maybe, I should avoid this thread altogether till I finish. :P

3. Manju is pulling me deeper into trouble by inviting me to more buddy reads. :P

message 144: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) We'll wait for you Sumit:):)

I'm just inviting you, accepting it is totally your choice. You can always say NO.:D:D

message 145: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Thanks for waiting for me, people! Thanks to your constant encouragement (and nagging), I've finished reading. :)

Manju, thanks for introducing me to a new author who I'm likely to pursue further.

So, what do you guys think of the overall story and the characters?

message 146: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Sumit: You already know about him, I just made you read him:P:P

to me story was pretty mediocre, I'm not much impressed with the story. but again if you've read Kay previously then you must know by now that his stories are about characters.

His characters are always great though I didn't liked them much in this one specially the males. but as always women are amazing.

message 147: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) @Sumit: what you think of women in the book?

message 148: by Hajarath Prasad (new)

Hajarath Prasad Abburu (hajarath) | 9245 comments He's still disappointed that Arbonne is not an "exquisite woman " :P :P :P

message 149: by Sumit (new)

Sumit Singla (sumitsingla) Manju wrote: "@Sumit: what you think of women in the book?"

I think the women are great.

Some are noble by birth and others are noble at heart.

Rosala certainly deserves a special mention for being strong enough to walk out of her husband's door without being cowed down by her imposing father-in-law.

I didn't like Lucianna at all - she sounded like a very two-dimensional, shallow character.

And among the men, I thought GGK should've done a better job with Galbert - his end wasn't satisfying enough. (Or perhaps, for a warrior, it was intended as the ultimate insult - to be killed not in a direct battle).

message 150: by Em Lost In Books (new)

Em Lost In Books (emlostinbooks) Yup Rosala is very special. Taking such a difficult decision tells us about her strong and courageous character. She is inspirational.

I too didn't liked Lucianna.

what you think of Lisseut?
