Good luck- Dale- They will figure it out. My husband was cured of stage 3 B lung cancer 12 years ago. Medical science is amazing.

Thank you. We hope they will, although the more I deal with the medical profession, the more I realize there is still a great deal we don't know and that, because human beings are such complicated things, medicine is still as much art as it is science.

In any case, she's in for a the biopsy right now and word is she can probably be released tomorrow. The test results will take a bit longer, but at least we can start to get back to some semblance of normality.

They have so many treatments. I remember when he was sick, every time I thought we were none for , they'd say- nope we have something that may work. Have faith!!

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 970 comments Dale, I pray for your wife's health and your comfort while you worry. Hugs

Carole, I think God your husband was cured and is still with you and your family. Hugs

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 970 comments I just found this thread. Yes, I"m often under a rock. If it turns out I have posted here before, then yes, I'm that stupid. ; D

I need to join this thread. I'm a goal-oriented person and have been struggling lately. I'm here to bare my soul and try my hardest.

I finally finished something today on my non-writing related website. It's been hanging over my head, so now it's done and I can move on to other stuff.

I've been working on my novel in my head and making notes here and there, including scribbling furiously by the light of my alarm clock in the middle of the night. That's my favorite time. I have yet to have any stretch of day time to sit in a chair at my laptop and work on my Word file. I miss it and want to get back to it. So that's my goal. Things keep getting in my way, so I'll give myself until next Friday... as I just learned it's Thursday... not Tuesday like I thought. Ugh!

Hugs to All!!

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments Thank you Carole and Sam. We had hoped we'd be going home today, but another cardiac blip last night made them decide to keep her here another 24 hours. She's actually doing well today (and was yesterday, too). The complaints that originally landed her here--fever and shortness of breath--have been resolved. The heart issues were discovered while we are here. So now it's a twofold matter: (1) Finding the best combination of heart meds for her (which apparently takes some trial and error), and (2) figuring out, if possible, what caused her issues in the first place so they can be dealt with appropriately. That part has been hard. For the most part, the tests have come back negative, and the one that came back positive is a bit of an anomaly given her overall condition.

Dale's Goals:

(1) Get Kathleen back home and keep an eye on her.

(2) Edit Space Operatic and start shopping it around to agents, with luck by the end of the year.

(3) Convince Kathleen she's well enough to finish editing Ice on the Bay so we can publish it, maybe by January.

(4) Continue writing Howard County Mystery #4 (so far untitled) and my new crime/humor novel, Weasel Words.

(5) Maintain a pace of at least two blog posts and one newsletter per week.

(6) Somehow reach people who might want to buy something I wrote. ;-)

Oh, and (7) get enough sleep to keep all this up, plus my "day job" and family responsibilities and . . . well, whatnot.

I need more sleep, but once we're out of here I'll catch up on that. Fortunately, we have four daughters, all of whom have been with us through the "experience." They're keeping an eye on me. ;-)

As far as writing goals, I always have a number of irons in the fire. That doesn't mean I work on all of them every single day. Some days I don't get to any of them. But yeah, I usually do have a plate piled higher than I need . . .

Wishing your son a wonderful birthday. Hugs

message 227: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Oh yes, it's fine, it was just a case of unplugging the soup maker and flicking a switch under the stairs. Annoyingly I think I cut my husband off from an online conference call. Whoops.

Thanks Sam. He'll have a rushed birthday, I'm away for the following night. But there will be cake and presents and KFC.

Ellis Knox (sknox) | 22 comments Goals
1. Finish "A Child of Great Promise" by end of year. Finished means drafted well enough to submit to a publisher.

2. Send new issue of Altearth Chronicle to my subscribers in December.

3. Take "Goblins at the Gates" wide in January (currently KDP Select).

4. If rejected at publisher, get "A Child of Great Promise" ready for self-publish by March.

5. Start research for "The Falconer".

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments I guess, if I think about it, my goals are always to complete everything that is written in my diary to do for that day. I've still got something left to do from Monday 8th January. On the other hand, I have done one of Friday 12th's goals.

This is my goal as well. The hard part is not to beat myself up when I don't!

Stephanie I sincerely hope that you find time to eat and shower, too.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Stephanie wrote: "I sincerely hope that you find time to eat and shower, too."

Had to laugh, Stephanie, I was thinking something similar. I'd be extremely fortunate if I got 2,000 words done in any one day and nothing else writing related. (Apart from Navie postings, of course). Even my so-called writing days are sabotaged. I'll spare you this morning's events. Just a glimpse? 32 minutes 'on hold' - I gave up and put the phone down - yes I did something while holding on but not writing-related.

Good luck, Alex, and whatever you do, don't get married or find even a part-time job.

message 238: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Then your day is your own! Few can say that. Least of all me! I seem to 'belong' to a lot of people and things. But I have a home-office with a door that shuts... then the phone rings.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Yes, mum's are VIP's. And isn't Mothering Sunday (UK) coming up shortly?

message 240: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Yes 12th March. I'm going out for lunch. Can't wait.

Really thrilled with what I've got done this week.

Finished typing up Iridessian Haunts.
Uploaded the last three chapters onto Radish and released them, thereby starting the three month clock before I can publish the thing anywhere else.
Addressed some layout issues on Missing Remnants.
Did the same for Iridessian Haunts.
Used up some ink and printed out Missing Remnants so I can work on paper (my eye is still playing up and I'm getting a lot of headaches.)

I must think about how big I want the paperback to be and then look into a cover for Missing Remnants. The Radish three months is up at the end of this month.
