Sounds like fun!

I was planning on reading a big fat book for April, but can move it to May. I've been a bit slow this Jan/Feb, but I normally read 10-12 books a month. I did actually get a mega finish in the fall (16), but normally my season is more like the present one - I'll finish with 25 tasks and 31/32 books.

lol, took that long for me to crumble...
@Karin: where are you...?"
@Tien hahahaha
To all - Normally, I am a keen team player, but this time I'm playing for ME as I have been packing in the books for games and challenges month after month for a year or so, frequently reading books I didn't like, although I also discovered some great books I'd have missed otherwise. That said, I'll be part of a team if it's okay to only read a few books. Tien and I were on the same team for 2 of those (and once on Shelfari a few years ago, which is how we met) so she was thinking I'd read a lot :).
So now I've just narrowed down the things I might be working toward once I see if I can do a grand finish this time ;). I will happily tell my team members what my plans are so that I can contribute accordingly, though.

I think when the teams are formed, then we can probably pick and choose between team members which tasks we'd like to read for and which tasks someone else can read for the team :)

I'm being competitive, of course, just not in the big finish. I haven't changed my personality overnight :) I'm just adjusting what I do here since I'd love to pick at least one category in 2017.

Karin, I'm super-competitive too about things - sometimes I manage to hide it on the outside but inside I just can't help it.
My strategy with RwS and SRC is to adjust my personal goals as I go along to make sure I always have a personal win ;-)

Mods, if you have enough people without me...well, my feelings will not be hurt.

Just for clarification, does it mean somebody on the team has to finish the sub-challenge in 2 months, because otherwise nobody will have claimed 15.10? Or is it enough if the team as a whole claims 10 sub-challenge books?
ETA: I've decided I can't join in after all, much as I would love to - I've explained below.

It would be great if you could tell us more about how you are going to handle the 15 point tasks. Are we going to be able to use the books in our own plans?

All 10 tasks of the sub-challenge have to be claimed, so one member of the team will have to finish. We'll try to make the teams large enough so that it isn't a burden - many hands make light work. You'll be able to have your own team thread to discuss your strategy.

Excellent! I agree. My personal win this time will be doing the mega finish even though I won't get the most points. I wasn't sure I could do it, but am going to try to get my 3 last books finished :).

Yes, this is a great part of teams.

I've never read as much in a month as I did in the summer bingo for 2016, so I'm hoping to get a spike in my "Books read"-list.
I didn't participate at all during this winter challenge, but before that I think I've been reading pretty consistently from season to season.

Yikes! I thought about this last night (thanks for asking, Rosemary!)... I've got some thick books planned for AotD (!)

This is where the thread for planning and strategizing will be valuable.

I think I may just find that part more fun...

I hope you all enjoy it, and I will be cheering you on!
(I edited my post above, but wanted to post again in case you have already started making a list, Elizabeth)

I'll start looking at my reading list and coming up with what fits where so far.

What are you talking about, Tien? You're not at all obsessive in your planning ;-) But you were great at moving the team along!

You certainly know how to whip a team into shape, Tien! (My kids always teased me about being a list maker too. So I completely understand your obsession!)

I am literally laughing out loud here... at least whoever's on my team this time will have been warned in advance lol

Relax, I've been on teams with you before, and I know for a fact that you are not a dictator--I haven't seen it yet. I love to strategize as well, so if you were, I didn't notice it ;) .

Not even a little bit! But your enthusiasm for planning and my competitive streak had me reading more than I otherwise would have, so it was definitely a win for me.
I'd love to be on your team again, in this challenge or another one.

I've been M.I.A. for the past year (getting married and moving twice *really* gets in the way of one's reading), but I'm back and ready to play! I have only been reading about a book a week, though I used to read 2-3 a week and am hoping to get back to that...

Welcome back, Anika, we've missed you!
ETA Oops, sorry mods, I keep forgetting to put these kinds of posts in the socializing thread.

If I ever step on anyone's toes, please speak up though so I know to tone it down.

That is also my understanding from Elizabeth's comment, "All 10 tasks of the sub-challenge have to be claimed, so one member of the team will have to finish."
However, I just thought that maybe for time leapers, they can read 15.2, 15.10, 15.5, etc if plans are posted in order of years?
Or for time travellers, can one team member reads 15.1-15.5 & a second team member reads 15.10-15.6 (starting at different ends)?

This is what I was hoping for, as a time leaper myself.

This is a good idea, if the mods agree to it. I am doing a time travel, definitely starting at 15.1; and my first 5 are very doable .

This is one of those times when we needed to reconsider my original thought and post of how this should work.
We have now decided than any 10 claims for sub-challenge points will qualify for the Team completing that portion of a Mega finish. You can workout as a team whether one member will read for the entire sub-challenge, or whether among you you will share the load.

Oh good! Thanks for the reconsideration! :)
