As always, read as many or as few as you like based around real but wacky holidays. Books can be all cozy mysteries but don't have to be. It's up to you.

June is National Adopt a Cat Month and June 4th is Hug Your Cat Day - Read a book with a cat as a character, shown on the cover, or listed in the title.

June 3rd is Repeat Day (I said "Repeat Day") - Reread a favorite book.

June 4th is Old Maid's Day - Read a book with an old spinster in it (doesn't have to be the main character).

June 26 is Beautician's Day - Read a book that has a scene in a beauty parlor, barber shop, etc. Extra credit if the book's main theme centers around a beauty shop.

June 27 is Sun Glasses Day - Read a book that takes place on or near a beach, shows a beach on the cover, or if sunglasses are specifically mentioned in the title or anyone on the cover is wearing a pair.

BONUS June 4th is National Cheese Day - Read a book that has something to do with cheese, has any kind of cheese in the title or on the cover.

Happy Summer
Enjoy!

I agree Linda. There are so many books I want to read that I don't reread.

message 11: by Becky (new)

Becky | 287 comments I don't usually Re-read either but it just so happens that I got the first Little house book from the library to read with my child so I will be using that as my re-read.

Meant to post my results for this challenge sooner, but wasn't home Saturday, and was kept offline the last two nights by severe storms. It's nice to not only see the sun today, but to have slightly cooler temps as well. The last few days have been so humid! Anyway, I didn't think I would do well with these, but did better than expected, quite by accident.

Cat book -- Read a book with a cat in it: Lost and Fondue by Avery Aames
(Rags the cat.)

Repeat day -- re-read a book: Rascal by Sterling North
(A childhood favorite I've been meaning to re-read since stumbling across a copy at the library used book sale. Was interesting to read descriptions of my state/area of 100 years ago, something I did not pick up on as a kid.)

Old Maid's Day -- book with a spinster:
Clobbered by Camembert by Avery Aames
(I'm thinking of the character Prudence, who does not live up to her name.)

Beautician's Day -- book with scene at barber shop/beauty parlor: East of Eden by John Steinbeck
(I admit to pushing it a bit here, as people are mentioned visiting these establishments at least three times, though no scenes actually take place there.)

Sun Glasses Day -- Read a book set at a beach: The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss
(If you want a beach setting, look for a book set on an island, LOL.)

Lost and Fondue (A Cheese Shop Mystery #2) by Avery Aames Rascal by Sterling North Clobbered by Camembert (A Cheese Shop Mystery #3) by Avery Aames East of Eden by John Steinbeck The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss

Three out of five isn't bad, especially when life gets in the way. ;)
