Does anybody know how to scan a book? I tried, but can't get it to scan.

Amy: what device are you using to scan it, and what is the intention of scanning the book?

Ann, on my IPad. I just thought I could add a book that I am reading instead of looking for it.

Amy: are you using the Goodreads app? From my iphone it says to go to settings and allow Goodreads access to your camera. I did that, returned to the Goodreads app and the scanner picked up a book to add for me. Pretty neat!

Ann, I do have the Goodreads app and my setting for the camera are on, I must be doing something wrong. When I touch scan I see blue dots but nothin happens. I'm doing it from my iPad.

I just tried to scan from the Goodreads app again; as I lined up the bar code of the book in the center of the screen I see the blinking blue dots too, and holding it still for a few seconds it then picked up the book and marked it to read.
A couple of tips be sure to do it in "good light" per the instructions, and just hold it still over the full rectangle of the bar code - have you tried different books?

Ann, I was able to scan one book. Your right,you have to hold it still for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the tips. Next time I have a hc book to read I'll try scanning it again.

I got excited re-reading this thread for a minute until I realized you were talking about scanning to add the title, not scanning to access a copy of the book for reading purposes, LOL.

I was similarly disappointed to find that it had nothing to do with blowing up somebody's head.
