Julie M (woolyjooly) | 314 comments Trying to get through The Enchantment of Lily Dahl by Siri Hustvedt by Siri Hustvedt. I'm thinking I would've enjoyed it more 20 years ago, when first published. It takes place in a familiar locale-Northfield, MN, but renamed as 'Webster' .. Characters' interactions seem false or stilted, but I'm persevering.

So sorry for your loss, Christine. My dad died 20 years ago at age 71 and there's not a day that goes by when I don't think of him.

message 9: by Gerald (new)

Gerald Miller | 821 comments Yes I know how hard things can be. I lost my job and my mom on the same day. My mom was not a book reader but she read magazines and newspapers. Without her I would not be reading at all.

Susanne - what did you think of it? Contemplating getting the audio with my next audible credit...

message 27: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katsikes) | 171 comments March is my "no TV" month, and it really shows in my reading output!
The Sellout (audio), a crappy free romance book that isn't even fit to be mentioned, My Brilliant Friend (audio), Homegoing, Triple Crown (audio), May I Have Your Attention, Please?: The Autobiography(audio), Gilded Cage (audio), In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Bat (audio).

Partially finished and hoping to be done by Sunday: Not My Father's Son (audio) and All the Light We Cannot See.

Whew - what a month! Some great books in there. Homegoing was absolutely amazing. And I devoured Gilded Cage in one day - really nice recommendation by Michael Kindness in the podcast he was a guest on.

Wow - I LOVED that book! I finished it, sat for about two minutes, and then immediately started it again because I didn't want to leave the world or the characters.
That's one of the great things about reading, I guess - different books for everyone!

Oh no! You sound like a better person than I am - I am terrible about returning books late... I know, I know, tar and feather me! (Luckily I don't use the library terribly much, so it's not that bad...)
