I loved The Swarm! It got better and better as I read it and I really liked the ending. Some scary stuff!

The best book I have read lately was Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore It was a fun read! I just finished You Are One of Them. It was just okay. I am reading The Noticer: Sometimes, All a Person Needs Is a Little Perspective now since it is set in Orange Beach, AL. It's a quick read, good so far. I should finish it tonight.

Susan -- Glad to hear you liked it! Yes, it's certainly some scary stuff. Yucky stuff to...I hate slimy things! lol!!

I hope they continue to make the movie. I'll be watching & waiting.

Tammy, lol. I think it would make an exciting movie! The book was added to the list of 1,001 books you must read before you die awhile back and I think it belongs there. I'd love to see the movie. I'll be watching and waiting , too.

I'll finish Mr Mercedes today. So far, I have anxiety anticipating what's going to happen, but it keeps leading up to it and the big thing hasn't happened yet!

I hope the story ends well. But, being a S.K. novel, I'm sure the ending will be great!!

I hate when a story builds up like that and then the ending falls flat. And I've read a few, although at this moment I can't think of one, that the story was great and built up the anticipation of a WOW ending and then nothing.

Finished The Swarm by Frank Schatzing. I enjoyed it very much!

Mr Mercedes had an exciting ending. I'm sure there will be a sequel. I'll give it 4 stars because there was more anticipating what was "going" to happen throughout. However, the ending didn't fall flat by any means!

I'm now reading INVISIBLE by Patterson. So far, so good!

I think you have us all anxious to read Mr. Mercedes now. I don't completely trust Stephen King since It years ago. I was so mad at the ending of that whopper of a book! I still read all his books these days, though.

I am reading Tempest now and it is exciting and hard to put down! Real life just keeps interfering with my reading time lately! I'm trying to get some uninterrupted time to finish it. Hope everyone is having a great week! I'm excited football season is upon us again!

Susan, I didn't read IT, by S.King, but now I'm curious about the ending you mentioned. I guess it was a let down? There is nothing worse to me than reading a book, especially a BIG book, and have the ending be a big disappointment. I don't have to have a happy ending, but I want it to be satisfying, or at least something I can live with.

I'm enjoying Sycamore Row by Grisham, and if it continues to be good, this may be the book I choose for my book club. Anyone read it?

Susan, Yes the sharks were scary, as well as him being stranded in that underwater cave for so long. I would have lost it in there. And what Karen went through at the end was scary too.
And I feel the same way you do about the ending of It.

Tammy, I read ALL Michael Connelly as well. However that one is on TBR because I tend to only read WL books because of all the swaps! I can never seem to get some of the non WL books read. Maybe when I go to Florida in winter for couple months, I'll only take non WL books with me. But then I'll be worrying about all the books I am missing in the swaps! LOL

June, do you think Sycamore Row would make for a good book club discussion?
Also, where do you go in FL? It must be wonderful to be able to spend a couple of months there in the winter! I'm so envious!

June, That's what I'd do while in FL. That is if you aren't going to do any swaps during that time. :) I have missed so much being away from the swaps, by the time I get back it'll all be like new to me again.

I'm trying to read all of Michael Connelly, John Grisham and Preston/Douglas books, but it's going to take a while. I tend to read more by my mood than by any other sequence. But I'll just keep plugging away. lol!

Oh, and I just read my first Lisa Gardner book, , so there's another series. :)

Tammy, I've missed seeing you in the swaps, where've you been?? Of course, I have slacked off a lot myself just trying to catch up on some reading. And, it seems we've been staying so busy lately. I do miss them also, but I don't miss reading under pressure.

Gina, I'm only going to Florida to Cape Kennedy it see my son's rocket ship he's been building go off in space. He works for NASA and is a rocket engineer. He has to be there five months starting November and takes my DIL and two big dogs with him, so he rents a big house. My DIL wants Gary, my hubby, my two dogs and me to stay there with them. Well I'm not going away for five months, so I may just go for end Jan. Thru the launch, which has to be exciting. So I have to plan my books in advance. I do not want to read on my iPad or get a Kindle. I like my books in my hands!

I have such a strange reaction to going away such a long time! I REALLY don't! I a home person and love to be home. However, Gary is itching to go away and he can go fishing with all the alligators. You see Cape Kennedy/Cape Canaveral is an animal protection park and you meet all these strange beasts in the street. My son once saw a GIANT turtle in the middle of the road, so he stopped to push it to the side. The thing almost flew into his face, pulled out the biggest claws and teeth you wouldn't believe. So he said F....U....get killed to the turtle and ran away! LOL

Yeah Tammy, where have you been lately? Preston/Child's books are another series I never want to miss. Love Pentergast!

Gina and June, I've been at home. We haven't had internet for over a year and still don't have it. Right now I'm staying with my daughter and her husband in Greenville SC for a while.

My husband was in a work related accident in March 2013 and his settlement is just now coming up, so depending on what happens with that, I may be able to get internet for the house again. I've been using my IPhone to get on the internet for Goodreads and Facebook. But, it's so small I have a hard time reading or doing anything on it. So being here with my daughter and her husband, I'm gonna take advantage of the unlimited internet she has and my laptop. :)

June, I'm usually a home person too, but my daughter had been asking me to come up and stay with them for a while, so I finally said ok. I'll be here at least a month. Beyond that I don't know, depends on what is going on at home and if I'm needed or I want to go home.

Don't throw any bookmarks at me, but I only brought 3 hardback books with me and my Kindle. There's a used bookstore close by and I will be going there. I'm sure I'll take home a few (a lot) books from there. Plus, there's a Barnes and Noble close by too.

I like paper books too. My Kindle is a back up.

My Kindle is more of a back up too. I like to use it when I travel, although, I still take my "real" books, lol. DH was hoping by getting the Kindle for me I wouldn't take all my big books with me...well, it just hasn't worked out that way. I still read real books much more than my kindle, and usually when it's time for a trip I'm in the middle of a book, so I HAVE to take it. I really only use my Kindle for free books and if a book happens to be cheaper than a PB or HB.

June, you must be so proud of your son! How impressive that he's rocket engineer! And interesting! That will be a fun and exciting trip. I love FL, I hope you enjoy being there.

Tammy, sorry about your husband's accident. I he's ok, and hope all works out well with that. Life gets so complicated sometimes.

I finished One Thousand White Women. It was interesting. Quite a different read. I'm waiting to see who chooses what book in my swaps to determine my next read, but I'm dying to pick one of my own! I'm still reading Sycamore Row, though, and loving it.

Gina, Thanks, He's fine. Has a scar that runs from just under his left eye down his cheek toward his nose and ends at the middle of his upper lip, of which had to be stitched inside and out. His cheek bone was factured. He still has nerve damage and we were told it's a 50/50 chance on whether it will go away or not. He lost teeth and had to have the rest removed, so he now wears dentures.
I told him, I have my very own Stacy Keach now. :)

Just to keep the post reading related, I'll be getting a recliner tomorrow for my daughter to keep here for me when I come back. So I'll be set for getting into that Michael Connelly book Sept.1st.

Tammy, sounds like it was a horrible accident! But, I like your remark about your own Stacy Keach! Would I be too nosy if I asked how it happened?

Nothing like a comfy reading chair! A definite must for us readers :)

Gina, My husband's work partner (who happens to a good family friend too) was down in ditch, I forget how deep, but it was deep, cutting brush and small trees with a side arm mower. My husband was up top the ditch and back far enough to what was thought to be a safe distance, when a piece of wood flew up out of the ditch and hit my husband in the face. He was wearing all the safety gear and the safety glasses and hard hat are what saved in eye and head injuries. Doctors said, another 1/2 inch and he would have lost his eye. But he is doing really good, except like I said before with the nerve damage, that's a 50/50 thing.

Yes, we definitely need our comfy chairs! :)

Speaking of comfy chairs, I'm outside reading in what is supposed to be one. However, it's not really not when I'm sitting too long. It's a Amish made wooden rocker, recliner with ottoman. I have very thick cushions on it but after awhile I feel the wooden slats. I don't recommend them, but hubby surprised me with it, and I had no choice. I'll have to add a second cushion, but better still, a second chair of my own choice!

Reading Garden of Stones by Sophie Littlefield. Finished Invisible by Patterson. Really good thriller with another insane madman like Stephen Kings

June, I have Garden of Stones, it sounds really good. Let me know what you think of it. I've got to wait a little before I start it, I just finished The Storyteller, and I'm not ready for another one so similar.

Tammy, I'm so glad your husband wasn't hurt any worse. Losing an eye would've been devastating.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend :) We decided not to go anywhere this weekend because we have another trip coming up on Thursday of next week. We are going to DH's college class reunion in NY. I'm trying to decide what clothes to take. Is it safe to assume they still have pretty warm weather up there? Nothing worse than taking the wrong kind of clothes!

I've started reading Things Half in Shadow by Alan Finn. I'm really liking this book so far - a little more than a third of the way through it. It's a great blend of historical mystery, a little romance and an apparently good ghost story. I hope it keeps going like this!
