Blazing Readers & Wordy Writers discussion

So when you join this group you can choose between three teams: the Blazing Readers, the Wordy Writers, or Blazing Readers & Wordy Writers! Each team wants to earn more points than the opposite and works to achieve the highest score of points.

MONTHLY READ
~ 50 points if you complete the group read in less than a week.
~ 10 points in discussing the monthly read in the monthly read threads

FREE READING
~below 100 = 5 points
~100-150 pages = 25 points
~150-200 pages = 35 points
~200-300 pages = 50 points
~300-500 pages = 75 points
~500-800 pages = 100 points
~800+ pages = 125 points
~graphic novels = 25 points

REQUIRED READING
~1-99 pages = 25 points
~100-199 pages = 50 points
~200-299 pages = 100 points
~300-399 pages =150 points
~400+ pages = 175 points

~ 150 points if your entry earns 1st place.

WRITING PROMPTS & PROMPT STORIES
~ 75 points for writing a story using a prompt.
~ 20 points if you used the Key Item in a prompt.
~ 50 points if you make your own prompt.

FREE WRITING
~ 50 points for posting any personal writing or stories.
~ 5 points for each paragraph of poetry you write

FOREIGN LANGUAGES
~ 10 points for writing something in a language besides English
~ 5 points for translating a work of yours from English to another language
~ 5 points per stanza for translating a poem of yours from English to another language

Question1: Can the BRs only earn points by doing the monthly book, or any books? And I'm assuming this starts from the day we signup?

Question2: Are we keeping track of our own point totals or are the MODs?

It seems like the writers can earn more points if they do the previous prompt as well.

1) With any books as well as the monthly read.

2) You post a comment in the team you're in (in this case you will post it for here for the WWs and here for BBs) and state how many points you earned and what you did to earn it. ^.^

Another question: If you read manga, how do you want "chapters" recorded? Since it's mostly pictures maybe just do 1 volume?

Wait, BR can read books outside of the group?

Amanda - If you're reading anything BUT the group read, each page is worth 1 point. If you complete a chapter of the book of your choosing (and it's NOT the group read) you will earn 5 points.

Coralie - Yes, they may. Though they will earn less points then they would if they read the group book. ^.^

Michi - Wordy Writer! I love to read but with my job, I will find it easy to read much ... :( So I would be useless for the Reader team.

Can I suggest rewriting the first post? It's a little overwhelming. Maybe break it up into bullet points? :

Blazing Readers:
- 50 points if you finish the monthly read in the first week.
- 20 points for discussing the monthly read in the group read thread.
- 10 points per completed book (not counting monthly read?)
- 5 points per chapter read (ALL BOOKS including monthly read).
- 1 point per page read (ALL BOOKS except monthly read).

Wordly Writers:
- 150 points for earning first place in poll votes.
- 100 points per entry for the monthly writing competition.
- 30 points for entering a prompt based entry
- 10 points added to the above option if including a "key item" if listed for said prompt.
- 5 points for submitting a prompt to the prompt thread.
- 5 points per 500 words written.

In Between:
- EVERYTHING ABOVE, but post in the correct groups.

So I've got a fair amount of manga that I read to be entered. It's bound to be a lot of points...
Did you want to change manga points for this month? I would suggest "25 points per volume" for comics and graphics novels. No page or chapter points awarded either.

Hello Felicia! You earn points by completing a chapter but we do not count points for pages. :-)
