Diagnosis pg. 78 Close to 25% of the book. I am loving it so far!!!


(view spoiler)[ I think this is a very cute book so far. It sucked me in from the very beginning. I like both main characters and like their banter back and forth. I can't imagine what it would be like to never go outside! I mean I guess Maddy doesn't remember so maybe it's hard to miss what you've never had? Also, I'm glad that Maddy doesn't appear to be sick from Olly's visit. (hide spoiler)]

Her nurse is very compassionate,nI can imagine that she saw how sad it was for Maddy to be her whole life alone between those white walls. Olly seems very fun and I can feel the chemistry between the two of them. It's always attractive to do something hidden and forbidden. (hide spoiler)]
The book sucked me in from the very first line. It's a very smooth read.

I'm about halfway through. Just finished chapter "Nurse evil". I like it how quick and effortless it is to read this book. The story is nice but there are certain things that bother me a bit.

I think the story's (view spoiler)[ quite unrealistic. It's not like I expected a fact book type of description of Maddy's illness and I can totally understand her craving for normal life. But knowing some things that are still about to happen in the story, I just can't see a teenage person acting that way in real life, having the condition Maddy has. But now I'm getting ahead of things! (hide spoiler)]

I like the way that Maddy (view spoiler)[ is acting as a normal teenager inspite of her isolation. On the other hand, sometimes she comes off a bit naive, which is natural considering her lack of social experience. And when it comes to some things, she seems more mature than most people her age, which is actually quite common among chronicly ill children. (hide spoiler)]

I don't know why (view spoiler)[nurses in these books always act so unprofessional. But I probably just notice this because I'm a nurse myself ☺ (hide spoiler)]

Anyway, it's an interesting story so far and I hope to finish it tomorrow!

Finished - I got sucked in a finished it all at once. It's a fast read.

I rated 5* but there were a few things that bothered me but not enough to rate it lower.

issues- (view spoiler)[ I don't think you can just buy a plane ticket without know a lot of information about the person. Which I don't think Maddy knew about him. Also, I kind of saw the ending coming. I thought she didn't have the disease but I was wrong about how crazy the mom was. I'm glad the ending overall was happy but was surprised by it. Maddy just leaving her mom and going to be/maybe live close to Olly. How will she pay for it? Will she get a job or does she think her mom will pay for that? (hide spoiler)]

Welll I got the same problen, I thought I could just read it in little parts but once I started I couldn't stop and before I knew I finished the book.
(view spoiler)[ I do agree with you krista, but you have to understand that the mother will probably help her financially out of guilt. Also I think when teenagers are in love their hormones takes over and they don't think clear. Just as the time maddy just jumped outside to save olly. So I can imagine her buying the ticket and in real life it does happen too. Unlike you I didn't expect the turn of events. I was kind of suspicious of her not getting sick from the time they kissed for the first time. I'm a scientist so I know that if you dont get sick from somebody else's spit you for sure have some kind of immunity. But I did not see it coming like that, didn't expect it from the mom at all. Even though I think maddy was a bit mean with the mom, i get it she was mad but still. Also the ending was very frustrating because I'm left with a lot of questions. I hope there's a part 2 in the future. (hide spoiler)]

I know they can buy plane tickets I just mean you have to know the name on their Id exactly like it is listed and things that I'm not sure she would just know unless she guessed or something. You're right, the more I think about it she must have some kind of immunity to some things if she could just kiss Olly like that.
I agree, I do think Maddy was mean to her mom. I mean, the mom does deserve some of what Maddy did though. I just wish she would have talk to her mom a bit more about her feelings I guess. I just figured a dr when she was young made a mistake and testing had improved since Maddy was young or something alone those line. (hide spoiler)]

I finished, too, and I agree with you both on what you said about (view spoiler)[Maddy's immunity and other things. I kind of knew most things that happened in the book but, like you, I didn't see how sick her mother was. It bothers me a little that everything seemed to be so easy for Maddie once she got out of the house. If she hadn't left her house for 17 years things should have been much more overwhelming to her. Of course, she had Olly but still. (hide spoiler)]

I do get this was a YA romance novel and it truly worked as such, even if I wished it was a little more realistic. It was a story filled with so many "first times" that most people can probably relate to at least some part of it. For Maddy there really was a first time for everything. And I liked how quick this book was to read!

I think I'm about 25% done. This book is a very quick read which I am surprised by. I didn't think it would take me this short amount of time to get practically 100 pages in. I really like Maddy as a character and I love all of the pictures and emails in the book. There we a few rare moments where I found the book slow but besides that I am loving this book so far.

I finished the book today. The plot twist at the end I wasn't expecting and I don't want to sound like a bad person but I wasn't a fan of the plot twist. All of the book was quick and easy to read. I still can't believe I read it as quickly as I did.

I am as amazed as you all are at how quickly I read this book! I really liked it, but I'm with you all - I did not like that twist at the end. How could that be possible??? Ugh...

I agree on that one. I loved the rest of the book but the plot twist confused me a lot. How did no one pick up on that throughout all of those years. But I will say it was a quick and easy read and I did enjoy it.

I was finally able to get through some more of this. These last few weeks have been really busy. I am about 40% done. It is really good so far, and seems to be a quick read. I'm interested to see where it goes.
