Jen | 1545 comments Thanks to all who voted. We got over 150 votes for the march madness challenge. Our book brackets are now posted (on the blog) and we are just waiting for the basketball teams to be announced so we can match them up.

If you would like to see how books fared in the voting, you can see this excel sheet (below). page one is the bracket and book matchup (missing the teams) and sheet 2 is the list of books with authors and their rankings. Books were divided into 4 divisions (like in basketball) and ranks are from 1-16. Basically books at each rank were all within .05 of each other in terms of final score.

Highest ranked book was Homegoing which received an average score of 8.71. Lowest was Monstress (graphic novel) that received average score of about 3.41. Most books were rated only slightly higher than average but almost all books seemed to be love it or hate with people rating them at either a 1-2 or 8-10

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments Interesting! Homegoing is great, so it's well-deserved. My nomination is a #2 pick, I hope it's a team I actually want to root for or this will be tricky!

Anita Pomerantz | 9281 comments Pachinko?

That is the only one I haven't at least heard of in the top seeds.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Pachinko has been on my radar for a while. Korean author- Min Jin Lee. She also wrote Free Food for Millionaires which maybe you have heard of. Pachinko is a Japanese gambling game for reference.

Now that the real basketball bracket has posted I took a more extensive look at the book bracket. My team is paired with Moonglow.

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments The university I went to made the tournament for the first time ever this year. But they have to play in for a #16 seed and then play Kansas. But I'm quite excited about the first round this year!

Anita Pomerantz | 9281 comments My sons' school, Bucknell, made it this year. I need to check out which book they got . . .

Update: Bucknell is The Undoing Project: A Friendship That Changed Our Minds. A book I've actually read!

Diane Shea (diane_shea) How do the book brackets work? Is this a fun way to pick a group read? I'm new to Book Tag and I have tried to look in old posts for an explanation. Thank you for the clarrification.

I'll let Jen explain the March Madness Book Brackets game .... but, officially, it has nothing to do with PBT other than that many of us follow Jen's blog and participate in various games / challenges she posts there (Like March Madness).

So sorry for the confusion, Diane. Jen is a great friend of Play Book Tag, and she has her own blog. She promotes some of her fun challenges here with our permission. But it really is extraneous to the group, and you would need to go to her blog to check it out. Her blog is here: https://thereadersroom.org/.

annapi | 5505 comments I've found that Jen's games (just like PBT) push me to read books I never would have picked up otherwise, which is great but of course piles more on my TBR. I've discovered some new authors because of her. Her games are pretty creative too!

Jen | 1545 comments Sorry, just saw these messages. Yes, nothing to do with PBT but admins are kind enough to let me post a note about it. And PBT members are the best because they help with voting for my challenges.

I do try to post challenges that I think will overlap with PBT goals and I give prizes and like to offer it to PBT members. But you won't get any PBT advantages or points for participating.

If you are interested, today is the final day to sign up. You can read about the challenge here: https://thereadersroom.org/march-madn...

Jennifer, you went to UCD? I lived in Davis for years, but have moved up the road to Woodland. It was an exciting game last night.
