No problem! I know I'm behind on the other one but I'll catch up quick! I'm have a girls day with my mom tomorrow, so I won't be able to sit down and read til tonight, but I'm going to start this one and make some progress on Merciless.

I read and liked this one! I only gave book two 2 stars but I don't recall why. If you read book 2, I hope you like it better than I did.

Summer/Lily - (view spoiler)[Pre-Kidnapping -Unfortunately we live in a world where as women we always have to be on guard. It's terrible that stuff like this really happens. She made some bad choices leading up to her kidnapping. #1. She thought nothing bad could happen to her. #2. She separated from her friend. #3. She didn't act immediately when she felt scared.

Post-Kidnapping - As messed up as it is to say, she's doing the smart thing by complying with Clovers demands; and not trusting the other girls right away. The other girls have been there for a long time, and even though Rose is the only one whose really came off as being comfortable there, it's too early to tell about the other two. (hide spoiler)]

Clover - (view spoiler)[Haven't learnt a lot about him yet, but I'm looking forward to getting some info on him. (hide spoiler)]

Lewis - (view spoiler)[I really hope he and the others don't give on finding her, and that they do find her. However, I think if she's going to get out she's going to have to do it herself. (hide spoiler)]

Clover - (view spoiler)[His story sounds like some Bates Motel type stuff (not that I've seen it) Maybe he was a victim of his mother's twisted self. It kind of sounded like he was with her right? Not that I'm sympathetic towards him, but that's not right either. (hide spoiler)]

Rose & Poppy - (view spoiler)[I'm not sure how I feel about them. They've obviously adapted to their lives with Clover, and are content at least to an extent, which riles me a little because I want them to fight, but at the same time they're alive. They've survived where others haven't, and disassociating from themselves has left them sane.

Sadly I don't think Summer/Lily can count on them for help. (hide spoiler)]

Wow, I love your quote(view spoiler)[ that is so true. I was just on a running trail and a guy exposed himself to me. It was the first time in a long time I'd walked alone, with both earbuds in listening to a book i'd JUST downloaded for that walk. Of course it's when I let my guard down that he struck. Ugh, I hate that we have to deal with things like this (hide spoiler)]

Omg! That's horrible! (view spoiler)[What did you do? It goes to show that something can happen anytime. Constant vigilance is right. Do you carry pepper spray or a knife on you? I keep a knife in my purse and take it with me when I go on walks sometimes. I saw a can of peppers spray for $9 yesterday.

I only go for walks in my grandmother's neighborhood, it's all dead ends (3), I know people there, or they know my dad and grandma, and there used to be a police station at the only way in & out. She's lived there forever. I feel safe there. Comfortable. But I still don't walk at night, I keep my phone out where it be can be seen and only put one ear bud in, and sometimes I even take the knife I carry in my purse. Because I don't know everybody there. And it's something that I always have to think about because I'm a woman.

It's like, when you see a man out walking at night by himself you'll probably think "He needs to be careful, he might be robbed" when you see a woman walking at night, or even a group of them, you think "They/she needs to be careful, they/she might get robbed or raped or killed." Big difference.

It IS such a big difference. It's so (view spoiler)[ disheartening because If I'm out at night and I see a man, I'm instantly wary and worried.

The guy was, luckily, a good distance from me, so I hid a little and called 911. Then I got my camera ready and went out taking photos. I didn't catch one of him (I think as soon as I ducked back to hide from him, he got worried) and he ran to his car. but I DID get photos of his car and talk to the police. The high schools (at least 2) and a running group I know all run the trails so I want him caught.

but MOST DISTURBING was when I talked to the police officer the next day....he said there were 2 DIFFERENT MEN OUT THAT DAY FLASHING PEOPLE?!?! What is wrong with people, right?? ugh. I've been taking my dog with me on my walks again (hide spoiler)]

YOU GO GIRL! I'm glad you called the police and took photos. Just taking out your junk like that is wrong, especially if kids are around and could see. I know guys sometime pee outside if they need too, (I'm pretty sure every man has at least once) but even then they make sure no one is around.

That's insane! At least he told you though, it's better to know right? What kind of dog? I have a cat, but my grandma and mamaw have a miniature poodle and half dachshund/chihuahua dogs.

Have you thought looking and seeing if there are any sex offenders in your area? I just read this article about this website this guy used to look himself up, truthfinder or truthseeker, and it showed the area he lived in and that there was 30 there! Ranging from indecent exposure I think to child rape. Shocking. (hide spoiler)]

Henry (Summer/Lily's Brother) -  (view spoiler)[I'm glad he jumped on the band wagon, but I can't believe he left. I can understand him being worried and wanting to leave, but I wouldn't leave my best friend. I would've told him that we needed to keep looking. They both should have known that there wasn't enough evidence though. (hide spoiler)]

Clover/Colin -  (view spoiler)[I can't wait til this guy gets got. And I totally called the mom thing. My guess is that after she cracked when she found her husband cheating, and after she kicked him out she raised Colin to be just perfect. Bleh. (hide spoiler)]

Sequel - originally I wanted to read it but now, knowing it's Clover's POV, I don't think I want to....

I know how you feel, Trisha. I read both books and gave book one 4 stars and book two only 2 stars and I rarely give 2 stars. I honestly don't think you'll enjoy it.

I'll probably take a look at it, just because I'd like to see it to the end and find out about the girls, but the book left off at a good place (it was a pretty solid ending cliffhanger wise) so if it's really that poorly done and I decide not to I won't be hung up over it.

If you really don't want to read it don't. If you force yourself you won't like it anyway, and this one did have a good ending.
