Krueger again makes the setting a critical part of the story, this time the lake and sacred land. How well did he integrate them into the plot?

Angela | 155 comments The setting was crucial. So much focus on the lake and LePere's connection to it. It seemed fitting that the final confrontation would be upon Lake Superior.

Exactly! First the Our Grandfathers being used to create conflict and then the sobering history of that lake that propelled LePere to make one bad life choice after another. Krueger integrated the two beautifully.

Phrynne | 607 comments This is his great talent - making the land a vital part of the plot. I am enjoying these books a lot because of this!

Me, too, and I never thought I would.

Phrynne | 607 comments I wasn't sure if I would like them either but I am so glad now that I gave them a chance:)

Exactly! It makes the stories feel that much more real because they feel so well grounded physically.
