Catherine | 8 comments Amazon rotates through free Kindle eBook offerings daily. You don't have to own a Kindle, since they have apps for mobile devices, PCs etc.

I've entered 0.00 in their search field, but I'm not sure how to narrow the results down to get ones that seem "worth it."

Lol I know exactly what you mean, I used to do the same thing. It's really hard to know which books are worth reading. A general rule I usually follow is if it says it less than 30 pages I usually don't bother with it. But even then it's hard to judge which ones are "worth it"

Stina (stinalyn) | 212 comments If you go to http://ebookclub.tor.com/ you can sign up for Tor's newsletter, which includes a monthly link to a free download.

And sometimes you can find something good by searching Tor's site for the "free ebooks" tag: http://www.tor.com/tag/free-ebooks/

Jen Brown These sites are really helpful, thanks! I was wondering if any of you might also know about similar websites (or apps) but for audiobooks.

One thing I will do is take the time to read a couple of reviews that have been voted most helpful. I think that is the default filter so they show at the top of the reviews in my view. Generally people will be pretty specific about why a book is/is not worth your time. I appreciate that about the amazon community. The other think is to take advantage of the download a sample option and check it out. Seeing the toc and first chapter helps me. You can view it on a browser or on a kindle or app there is a download button. Also a quick eyeball of the overall ratings give s me a good sense. If there are more 5 & 4 stars than the other.. if right off the bat 3&4 stars are higher... I might not even look further. I tried to include a snip so you can see the ratings but... I do this even if teh price is lower on some other site because no other site has thorough reviews like amazon does.

1. Go to Kindle bookstore on Amazon
2. On the top middle(if your signed in) On the left panel if not, click on Best Sellers
3. Click on top 100 free

They update these every hour.

Then if you find a book your interested in, at the bottom of the description, it tells you what category it is in, if you click on the category you like, it will then take you to the Best Sellers for that category.

When I first got my kindle, I would load it up with free books.

Keira | 2 comments There is also BookBub.com. They list free and discounted Ebooks from kindle and apple. You can sign up for their newsletter to get emails for ones based on your preferred genres or just go on their website

Neda (nautilusned) | 2 comments Don't forget to check with your local library! A lot of libraries now offer ebooks & eaudiobooks that you can "check out", usually through a service like Overdrive & One Click Digital.

Thanks, Lorrea! That narrows things down quite a bit! :)
