Liv (oliviapautot) | 13 comments So I see that everyone reads books in 'one sitting'. It takes me at least a week or two to finish one novel. How do you guys finish a novel in one sitting!? How long is this sitting? What is your reading routine like? I work and go to school so I usually read for an hour or two every night and nearly all day on the weekends.

I wonder that also. I have classes to balance out. When I have a weekend to myself I can usually knock out one book if it's around 300 pages. Books that are less than that ususally take a day or a day and a half but this also varies.

message 3: by Nərmin (new)

Nərmin | 12 comments It really depends on how interesting a book is. Usually, an interesting book is finished in 4-5 days, but if I am on holiday, it takes 1-2 days. I don't read novels in one sitting, just manga and comics.

message 4: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 111 comments usually anywhere from 2 days to a week depending on how interesting it is or what else is going on in my life. or whether or not i'm simultaneously trying to read 3 other books lol. but yeah i don't know how people can read full length books in one sitting. i can't read anything in one sitting unless it's maybe like 50 pages, i get restless and have to go do something then come back to it

message 5: by Ash (new)

Ash | 30 comments Anywhere from a week to a month, depending on how many other books I'm also reading and interest level in the book.

message 6: by Maura (new)

Maura (mnporter22) | 4 comments usually about one to two days, but if the story drags it can take me close to a week or in bad cases a month, but it usually only takes that long because I start reading something else.

message 7: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 184 comments About a 4 - 7 if I have lots of time to read and a good book. When reading time is sparse it can take a week to a month, which is sadly more my norm now.

Fangirl.bookgram (fangirlbookgram) | 5 comments It's depends on how captivating the book is & even then like I love the lost hero series but I be so busy that it takes about 2 maybe more weeks to finish.

This Kooky Wildflower Loves a Little Tea and Books (alittleteaandbooks) If the story's good, 2-3 days.

message 10: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Walker (brittanywalker) | 37 comments Depends if I really like it around 6 hours, but if I find it kind of slow or there's a lot going on in my personal life it can take as long as a week.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

4-5 Days

ℓуηη_σƒ_νєℓαяιѕ | 39 comments That really depends on the book itself. I recently read a 448 pg book in a little over a day (it was that good!), and then I had a book 314 pgs that took me like a week 'cause I was bored. So it all really just depends on the quality of the story you're reading :)

message 13: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sammylancaster) | 12 comments It really depends on how interesting the book is. Maybe a week?

message 14: by Angela (new)

Angela Auten | 128 comments 4 to 5 days for me normally.

message 15: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) For a book around 300 pages I can normally finish it in 4-5 days

message 16: by Natalie (last edited Mar 24, 2017 02:06PM) (new)

Natalie Grace | 21 comments It definitely depends on how good the book is, but I would say 2-3 days for me. I have a rather obsessive streak that reveals itself when I find an insanely good book. On the other hand, if I lack interest in a certain book, or start one that is distinctly better, it will take me much longer to finish...

message 17: by Cheri (new)

Cheri (nannycil) | 33 comments A day or 2 usually. If its super interesting I can read it in 1 day

message 18: by Tecla (new)

Tecla I wish I could read a book in one sitting but the internet distracts me! It usually takes on average, a week to finish a book.

message 19: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 25, 2017 03:29AM) (new)

I read a 300 page book in around 3 hours.
I suppose its because reading is one of my only hobbies, I lie in bed reading 1-2 hours every day, and read half day or all day on saturdays. Also I read on the subway.

message 20: by fatin (new)

fatin (emmajulian) I take around 1-2 days usually, but sometimes I can take up to 5-7 days. I never read in one sitting actually.

message 21: by Megha (new)

Megha (megha_42) | 19 comments Most of the time it takes me about a week to finish a book if not longer. But I can also knock a 300 page book in 1-2 day but that's only of I don't have any homework. It also depends on how interesting the book is, if it's interesting then I'll keep reading even if I have hw to do (which is bad, but what can a girl do). I always try to read 1 hour before I go to bed which is when I get most of my reading done

message 22: by Fangirl.bookgram (new)

Fangirl.bookgram (fangirlbookgram) | 5 comments I think there was only one book I read in one sitting which was "jumping off swings" by Jo ( sorry can't remember the last name )

message 23: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 36 comments Sometimes two days, others a week to ten days. Depends a lot on how much time I have that week for reading and interest in the book of course.

message 24: by lacy (new)

lacy white (ravensandlace) I have the awesome benefit of working overnights. My nights are super easy because I take care of people with disabilities and the home has men that are very independent. I can get through a 300 page book in about a night. My reading routine is basically I check Goodreads and then sit there for hours and read unless I have to get up to do something. lol.

message 25: by Insh (new)

Insh | 4 comments if it is really good then about 1 day.
if it is a book that i dont really find interesting then a week!!!

message 26: by Vertika (new)

Vertika Singh | 6 comments Well I have classes and other engagements through the day but I manage to finish a book (roughly of say 400 or so pages) in two days max. Here's how I do it:

I am a fast reader so an hour for me means anywhere between 50-60 pages. I make it a point to cover at least 50% of the book in one sitting. Usually I start around 10 at night and read till 1-1:30, this is the least interrupted time I have throughout the day.

If the book is very interesting I mighy continue to read till 2:30 (I can work on bare minimum sleep thankfully :P ) Also I don't go out a lot (not my scene) so it gives me the added energy to pull through hefty reads in short time.

It all depends how much interested you are in the book and in getting your reading qouta for the week done.

message 27: by leo (new)

leo (leosthetics) For me, it depends if the book is interesting me or not. If it is, I could read it within a day.

▴▾Alyssa▾▴ (thebookescapist) | 9 comments 1-2 days but if it is really boring 3 max.

message 29: by sara (new)

sara (daggerandrosae) | 12 comments I think it depends on the period. If I'm not too busy with university or exams probably 2-3 days. Otherway, probably 5-6.

Melanie (TBR and Beyond) (tbrandbeyond) | 28 comments It depends on my mood. Some weeks I'm not really in a reading mood so it can take a week or two. Other weeks I can read a book a day.

message 31: by Insh (new)

Insh | 4 comments sara wrote: "I think it depends on the period. If I'm not too busy with university or exams probably 2-3 days. Otherway, probably 5-6."

totally agree with you!!
college and exams have a way of screwing my reading time!!!

message 32: by sara (new)

sara (wizardsbook) | 19 comments Well, when it's school season and there are lot of exams and stuff probably about a week. But it also depends on how interesting book is and if it's fantasy if world building is slow

message 33: by Wolf (Alpha) (new)

Wolf (Alpha) I can read one book average of 300 pages in a few hours.

message 34: by Emir (new)

Emir Ibañez (erasiz) I guess it would be three days MAX. It depends if it's a heavy story, or the prose, or my modd, but yeah, three days.

message 35: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn (katelyn13) | 1 comments I work over 40 hours a week so it's really hard for me to find time to read during that time so I do most of my reading on the weekends. I make it a point to read at least one book a weekend of around 350-500 pages. So it takes me 1-2 days depending on how invested I am in the story. If it's amazing I will sit and readathon it until it's done, but if it's not holding my attention I usually stretch it into 2 days. Then it's up to picking out a book for the next weekend.

message 36: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Bhatt | 15 comments If I am totally into it and it is a weekend then may be a day or 1.5 days.

If it is during the week with job n cooking n stuff (like sleep, bath, etc) then may take 3-5 days.

message 37: by Olivia (new)

Olivia (elven) It depends on a couple of things. 1. How interested I am & 2. How much free time I have.

If I have the whole day free and I'm interested, I can easily finish a 300ish page book in a few (4ish) hours.

If I'm busy but interested, it's usually around a week.

If I'm busy and not interested it can take up to two weeks.

message 38: by WildeFlower (new)

WildeFlower | 2 comments If I'm really into a book, it's only 2-3 days, not including my days off.
If I'm disinterested or busy then about 4-6 days.

message 39: by Angela (new)

Angela Auten | 128 comments Sometimes it takes me five days, but that's because I work 6 days a week.

message 40: by Jessica (last edited Mar 27, 2017 06:24PM) (new)

Jessica Rosewalk (jessicarosewalk) My shortest time reading a 300ish page book was about 4-5 hours. I borrowed the book in my English class one afternoon and finished it at 7pm that night.

Usually, it depends on how intrested I am and how busy I am at the time though.

message 41: by Alethea (new)

Alethea (greaterthanblue) | 43 comments Well usually about 4-7 days if I'm reading at a normal pace, which includes balancing school work and all that :)

message 42: by No one (new)

No one I'm a very slow reader and a 300 page book can take me about 5-6 days.
I wish I could read these kinds of books in one sitting, but I just can't do it without missing on almost all the information. And if I don't know what I'm reading or I won't remember a single thing in a couple of days, what's the point?

message 43: by Emily (new)

Emily Anna | 2 comments Depends on the genre. If it's a fantasy book that pulls you into the world then probably 3-4 hours, but other genres usually take me 4 - 8 hours.

message 44: by Mieke (new)

Mieke (miekebxx) Usually a week because I'm still in a slump (and I don't even finish 1 book per week). Without a slump it would be 3-6 days

message 45: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Uke | 62 comments Depends on how involved I am in the book, if it's a bit of a heavy read (marcus-aurelius) it could take months, but if it's an intense Dan Brown novel? Maybe 1-2 days.

message 46: by antonia (new)

antonia mak (isleofbookx) | 1 comments Usually one or two days :)

message 47: by Rimpy (new)

Rimpy Desrosiers (rimpydesrosiers) Usually I can knock out a 300 page book in like a day or two, but if my school workload is really killing me it might take me longer, especially if the book isn't super captivating.

message 48: by Olanrewaju (new)

Olanrewaju (grandmasterace) | 14 comments Depends on how interesting the book is to me. Can finish it in a day if I have nothing to do.

message 49: by SeraphIonna (new)

SeraphIonna | 3 comments It depends but usually 1 day (if not busy reading something else too) to a week.

message 50: by Romana (new)

Romana (abooknerd13) | 207 comments I'm a fast reader. I can easily finish a 500+ page book in one day if I don't have much else to do and the book sucks me in. On average, I would say it takes me 2 days to read a book. But it really depends on the book.
