I'll probably start on this one next week.

How long do you expect this one to go? I'm in the middle of three books right now but I have this one on my shelves at home and I could make it a priority on my list after I finish these other three if you think it will go that long.

I don't know how long it'll go. I'm on the second book in the series, and I'll probably have it done within a week or two.

Chapter 4 : (view spoiler)[ Seriously? The best splat ever? Why would you want to jump from heights continuously hurting yourself? What do they like the pain? So far, I think it is an interesting society. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 14: (view spoiler)[Talk about harsh. Neither one wanted to become a scythe. Now instead of just competing for a position neither wants, the winner has to glean the loser. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 22:(view spoiler)[ Scythe Curie and Goddard are nothing like Scythe Faraday. I am thinking that they need a team to handle behavior unbecoming of a Scythe. Curie, maybe not so much, because she has some odd kind of moral thing going on that is hard to understand at first. Goddard, on the other hand, forced a guy to give him his house and become a pool boy. He likes suffering and killing too much. Curie gleans people quickly so they never see it coming, Faraday always gleaned with compassion and Goddard terrorizes. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 33: (view spoiler)[I totally did not see that coming! Faraday is alive and Curie knew about it. Plus, Esme is the daughter of the high scythe and he is being forced to go along with Goddard's antics. I am hoping Faraday & Curie have a plan in place to deal with this rogue scythe. Finished: (view spoiler)[well I certainly didn't see the ending coming. They both stayed true to themselves in ways that were totally unexpected. Will they be able to make the change so desperately needed with the scythes? I guess I will find out in book 2. (hide spoiler)]

10%- (view spoiler)[I'm liking Citra's gleaning style a lot. At first I thought it was kind of cruel, but the explanation she gave changed my mind. Meanwhile, scythe Lucifer is a bad ass name, although I thought the darkness in his character came kind of out of left field. I never had him pegged as a very violent character because he's so guided by morals. I guess Goddard had a bigger impression on him than I thought he would. (hide spoiler)]

52%-spoiler: (view spoiler)[This one is just as good as the first one, omg. I love reading stuff from the Thunderhead's perspective. I'm interested to find out if its semi-God complex becomes a problem or if it really is as benevolent as everyone makes it out to be. (hide spoiler)]

I've put off reading this for so long. It's starting off pretty great though.

23% (view spoiler)[I feel like authors who dabble in all genres sometimes have difficulty with genres as creative (by requirement) as dystopia, and yet are the ones who write it mostly these days. Their universe seems too much like ours, with just a few little changes, and I feel like that doesn't always make for good science fiction. Nonetheless, I'm enjoying the ideas put forth in this novel. (hide spoiler)]

40% (view spoiler)[Okay, so I kind of read a little bit before when I was looking for a word in the novel that spoiled what just happened, so I was ready for it. At the same time, I was interested to see how it played out, and I really want to know more about what's about to happen. (hide spoiler)]

46% (view spoiler)[I feel like Neal Shusterman kind of put in the big plot twist of Scythe Faraday's suicide (or murder) too early, and immediately following the other plot twist. Now, after those two big things, everything seems kind of forced. I haven't read anything from Rowan's perspective since the incident, but the relationship he are trying to create between Citra and Scythe Curie really doesn't seem to further anything in the story. 76% (view spoiler)[Reading this is kind of like heating food in the microwave: some parts are great, but some are really dry. What I just read, however, is definitely far more exciting than some of the earlier happenings. And yet, I don't think Scythe Goddard killed Scythe Faraday. That would be too simple. I'm thinking maybe Volta or Curie (I love traitor characters, lol), but not Goddard. (hide spoiler)]

91% (view spoiler)[So far, everything I've read is absolutely the obvious answer. It's like, I would have this idea in the back of my mind but I'm like, that wouldn't happen, it's too obvious! And then that's what happens. It's still good, just not unexpected. (hide spoiler)]

Part two (view spoiler)[Honestly, I love the way this book presents humanity. Human nature is still human after everything. (hide spoiler)]

(some of) Part three (62%) (view spoiler)[I'd forgotten how much Citra really digs into Scythe Faraday's murder. It makes for a fascinating story.

Scythe Curie is probably my favorite character throughout the series.

As for Esme, I forget what her purpose in it all is. I'm excited to rediscover it. (hide spoiler)]

It's safe to say my feelings that I wrote on the first BR posts above don't reflect my feelings now even a little bit.

End of part 3 (view spoiler)[I forgot about all of these shocking developments. It's such a world to live in, and yet I'm writing this while watching stuff about the Trump trial and wondering how a person in power can get away with so much. It's such a corrupt world we live in, and modern-day dystopia recognizes this far more than any of the classical stuff possibly could have. (hide spoiler)]

Scythe is 100% a binge read and addictive.

Well looking at the time I am not going to make it. I'm totally capable of reading it and Thunderhead before midnight tomorrow, but I'd rather slow down and enjoy it.
