NetGalley

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

But Wait, There's More

Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?

Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!

Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!

The next Review Weekend is set for April 22/23

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Tracy (tracyisreading) Silly question....what do you do if you didn't read the books before their publication date? Or their archive date? I have The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, which just came out, but I didn't make the time to read it until now :-/

Also I went through my list to try and prioritize what order to read everything else in and realized that quite a few of my books had already been published.

message 32: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments It doesn't really matter if they've been published or archived. As long as you downloaded the books you can still read and review. I've done that many times. If you don't have the book or don't want to review, you can send a message to the publisher through NetGalley.

Darn, now I need to check too...be right back. Ok, I was daring and went on NetGalley. I did not request anything! I have 16 to go.

First one for the month done :)

I've now read all 3 of her novels and they are fantastic. Highly recommended!

Kristie | 3595 comments I leave feedback on netgalley, but not on Goodreads.

I did some digital sleuthing and found badges for 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 500 reviews. The last one is my favorite:

....I'll race ya there! ;)

I do on NetGalley - credit for the feedback, and usually they feature your review. :)

Kristie | 3595 comments Woot! Definitely doing better this month. :) Review #2 and no requests...yet.

I read and reviewed Before We Were Yours Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate . It was so good. If you like stories, such as Orphan Train, this would be for you. Again, this is based on a true story in US history that I knew nothing about until reading this story.

Kristie | 3595 comments Interesting tidbit here. My percentage didn't go up at all with the above review, which is strange. It should go up by 1. That is fine, but on my profile it says that I have received 97 books and reviewed 84. That should mean that I have 13 books available to review, but there are only 12 on my shelf, including the " Older than 3 months" shelf. Also, I said that I had 16 left to get to 100 before and I still do now, so it seems that it didn't count this review. Maybe a glitch? I never noticed that happen before. I assume it will straighten itself out.

Edit: Yup. There is something weird with it. I just tried to go in and make sure my review is there. When I did a search by title it stated that there is no book by that title available. When I went in through "feedback sent," it was there and states that it archives in August. Hopefully, it gets cleared up soon.

I've had this issue a bunch lately. It usually fixes itself within a day or so.
