Troy Beals | 10 comments I would suggest reading your second favorite book. Not the favorite but the next one. This will help bring you back into the zone. It has worked for me many times. :-)

fabricofbooks | 9 comments Start small. Read small books that pique your interest. Then build up from there. Try to expand to a new genre or binge-read an author if that doesn't work.

Jacob (jacobthebookworm) | 31 comments Reread a favorite or try a completely new genre

lacy white (ravensandlace) I would try a favored author. That's what I do. Usually for me, I read Danielle Steel and it snaps me out of the reading slump.

Cordelianne Begin with reading something short!

Anita (neet413) | 160 comments Grab a Carl Hiaasen book, you'll be right as rain in no time.

message 10: by Mieke (new)

Mieke (miekebxx) I recommend Fangirl! This is my ultimate 'out of a slumb' book. It works so well for me, but if this one isn't for you then go with one of your favorites (/

Bianca Sy (sy_bianca) | 3 comments Read a book that only has fewer pages. Or.. have you read the Percy Jackson series? Because if you haven't yet, you should. Or read a book that's in a point of view of a first person for it is easier to understand and to follow. ^_^

Devann (devannm) | 111 comments generally i would go grab a seanan mcguire book i hadn't read yet but i think i'm all out of them except for the new feed stuff, and i've actually heard bad things about them so. luckily though i signed up for netgalley recently and that is keeping me very on track since there is a 'deadline' of sorts for when you need to read them [or at least when you should]

sabina (beaniereads) I'm also trying to get out of that slump right now, since I haven't read in months.

The first thing I did was find an audiobook, this may or may not work for you but listening to something gave me the push I needed to start reading again.

After that I started finding really short books, and I don't mean 200 words, 100 or less (or close to 200 if it sounds really good). Slowly build up from there and do what makes you feel comfortable, and take your time.

Some of the short stories I've read are: the ones who walk away from omelas, 4.48 psychosis, the little prince, and c.s. pacat's captive prince short stories.

They're not exactly.. the most positive topics but they were all really good reads. I hope this helps, even a little, good luck.

ALSO someone mentioned moving on from books that you don't find interesting! This is a really good tip, I personally hate not finishing books but it helps move things along. Just think of it as putting them on the shelf so you can go back to them when you're over your slump and have the motivation to finish. If you want to of course.

Samantha (sammylancaster) | 12 comments Maybe start with a contemporary book

message 15: by Klara (new)

Klara Thea (klarathea) | 8 comments I recommend reading a lightly themed contemporary with a big font and short chapters so it's easy to get through. Don't start on a series. Maybe something like Anna and the French Kiss or We Were Liars. And then just take your time.

message 16: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 739 comments I read YA or even children's books, and if really out of sorts, ones I have read and enjoyed before. No point reading hard stuff when it's that difficult to read already.

Bella | 23 comments Reread your fav series or standalone

message 18: by Zackary Ryan (new)

Zackary Ryan Cockrum I recommend listening to a book. It takes less effort and it's in a different format than you are used to.
Hope this helps :)

message 19: by J (new)

J Q (johnniquest) I reccomend picking up an easy read like a mnaga, graphic novel, or middle grade novel. It helps get the mojo running ;)

message 20: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Uke | 62 comments Depends on what you're into and the amount of energy you've got. Personally, when exhausted I enjoy a good graphic novel.

There's the romance: blue is the warmest color.
Fun: Scott Pilgrim vs the world,
And just plain batshit crazy: Transmetropolitan.

Long Pham (extere) | 5 comments Try to re-read your most fave book or go watch the non-spoiler book review of the book you're currently reading :)) Or go watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMJQz... :)) It got me out of reading slump so i think it would do the trick :))

Mystic Orange (Rumell) (rkrespectedmember) | 1012 comments RRelax your mind. I recommend therapeutic activities. Reading slump happens if you overwork your brain. Take breaks. Have some water.

Jason Comic books

Tracy D. (ironmaidenqt) | 6 comments I go to a different type of media. Gaming, Netflix, or Webtoons if I can't get out of a book slump. If you still have trouble, I would just re-read a favorite, or whatever caused the book hangover in the first place. Hair of the dog, you know? Eventually you'll find something that really captures your attention. Good luck!

message 25: by Heather (new)

Heather | 97 comments I usually binge watch a favorite TV show (Poirot, Monk, Law and Order Criminal Intent) or a series of favorite movies (Galaxy Quest, Clue, Princess Bride -you know the classics) or do a reread of a favorite series like The Others by Anne Bishop or anything by Ilona Andrews. 😂

Morgan Young | 31 comments Bookmarks magazine has helped me out of a reading slump more than once. It's a fun magazine to read, and it steered me toward trying some new books that I wouldn't have otherwise considered.
