M.L. Let's exercise! :) What's your favorite way to get up and go?

message 2: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments The surest way to get up and fly is probably to find your legs tied to a taking off plane, but if nothing as foolproof is available then a cup of coffee should do -:)

message 3: by M.L. (new)

M.L. Coffee is the wake up. But you have to get up and run, jog, walk, bungee jump, ride a bicycle, that kind of stuff! :) Can't sit in front of the computer all day or be a couch potato. :)

Groovy Lee Man, your last sentence just described me to a T! And I wish I had your get-up-and-go!

On the one hand, I'm tired. Years of work, work, work. But on the other hand, I know I must do something. So, I'm going to buy a bike and ride around everywhere this spring and summer with my sidekick:)

Bar hopping and night clubs count? Too bad too few of these lately -:)

M.L. Cool! Groovy and Scout are going biking! :) (no motorcycles!)

Sorry! Bar hopping doesn't count, unless you jump rope your way there. :)

Does fork lifting and mastication count as an exercise?

message 11: by Ian (new)

Ian Bott (iansbott) | 216 comments How about arm curls with a 1-pint weight?

message 12: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno | 19850 comments Michel, Ian, that's some serious weightlifting and bodybuilding alike. Capable of developing Schwarzenegger-esque physique is his best years

message 13: by M.L. (new)

M.L. Sure, arms and jaw muscles! May want to increase to two pints when ready. :)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 1579 comments Walking! And riding an exercise bike with a good audiobook running.

This is really an ideal way for us readers to get exercise! After more than a year hiatus from jogging, last week I started up with two 1.5km jogs. Now I'm going to get the armband for my phone so that I can listen to audiobooks and podcasts.

message 16: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Just be careful, Leonie and Alex G. With your audiobooks and podcasts drowning out the world, you can't hear what's going on around you. I never listen to music or anything when I'm outside, I'm afraid of a careless driver, or a mad dog.

Yes, I'm a bit edgy about my surroundings:)

I should be safe on the exercise bike! (Unless the cat decides to 'help'.)

Rita Chapman | 156 comments My husband and I play tennis three times a week. Not only is it great exercise it's very social and we have made wonderful friends through our tennis club. We are lucky enough to live in Qld, Australia so the weather is very conducive to being active. We walk the beach, the river and the lake and we also swim. But there are days when you really have to push yourself to walk. The other alternative of course, is less by mouth.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8073 comments I started walking my dog around the lake at a local park a couple of years ago. I noticed that many people I met on my walk were carrying sticks or furled umbrellas. I surmised that they didn't like dogs, so I kept mine well away. It turned out that they had equipped themselves to defend against the geese, who would come hissing and snapping in order to defend their young. They actually liked dogs, who scared the geese away. So much for assumptions.

-:) Hike in the land of hostile geese

For me it is walking. My bad back and shot knees doesn't allow me to do harder exercises. Thankfully, my work as a night security guard (unarmed) makes me walk a lot, over two miles per night, so I get my exercise then. That leaves me more time when back home to write my novels.
