Amy | 12930 comments I don't know about you guys, but my reading has been exceptionally show this week and weekend. I have been busy cooking for Passover. I have made a total of 8 dishes, and have another six to go today... I almost wish I wasn't reading the History of Love right now, because its sort of going in extremely small, and extremely slow increments. And I think I would be loving the book more, if I could delve into it. In addition to that, I seem to be "in the middle" of a few reads. I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird in pieces, small slow increment pieces. Plus I am at the tail end of the Lightning Thief with my son. And in the beginning of Goblet of Fire with son #2. Plus by the end of the month there are two non-fiction reads that I am attending discussion groups on, and I kind of can't wrap my hands around either of them, while I am in these slow in betweens. In the meantime, tonight I will be reading the Haggadah, tomorrow night too... We will be having Sweet and Sour Brisket, Fig and Pomegranate Chicken. Butternut Squash Rissoto, apple matzah kugel, garlic roasted potatoes, greens, passover knishes, Sweet Potato Soup, Quinoia Salad, and mock kishke and mock chop liver. And a few other delicacies. Also made tangy lemon bars, double chocolate pudding, and a banana Chiffon cake. For anyone attending a Passover Seder tonight, I am wishing you a joyous and scrumptious holiday, and a happy Easter to those for whom Sunday is your day of celebration. Wish me luck with the History of Love. Feels like its the History of Slavery and Exile to Freedom first. And Four Cups of Wine. Just got word, Stolen Beauty arrived from the library..... Bear and the Nightengale is checked out, so is Marina. Exit West will be months on the queue. Happy Reading all- Blessings, Amy

Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments I hope your Passover is filled with love and family- the most important thing in the world. Books are forgiving- they'll be there when you're ready for them!

Susie Your menu sounds fabulous! Enjoy your reading when you get to it, but in meantime enjoy your family time. x

Amy | 12930 comments Of course! Already having 15.5 tonight at a table that seats 12. And 13 tomorrow night. Blew up the toaster this morning broiling the egg and shankbone. I just love these live messages! They make me smile and tear up. I love you guys... happy holidays and blessings to all...

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments Your menu sounds wonderful!!! I hope that your holidays are filled with a memories!!

I actually often get a lot of audio books listened to while cooking, but they have to be "lighter" fare --- like a cozy mystery or something like that.

Ladyslott | 1880 comments Amy - I'm cooking too, but not quite as exotic as you, And we are a small gathering this year, so I didn't want to go overboard.

We are doing the standards - Matzoh Ball Soup, Gefilte Fish, Brisket, Baked chicken breast over green beans and red potatoes, and steamed broccoli. And of course Matzoh and Charoset. Plus I made Chocolate Toffee Matzoh for dessert - along with macaroons. I'm exhausted, been cleaning and cooking for days!

Wishing you and your family a Zissen Pesach.

Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2597 comments First of all Amy and Linda, and our other Jewish members, have a wonderful celebration with your families and friends. You menus both sound terrific.

I agree with Jolene, love audio books to give me the opportunity to read when I can't sit down and pick up a book or reader!

Amy, I totally agree about reading books in small, slow bites, it takes away some of the joy. I'm sure you would love The History of Love if you could really get into it. Maybe a follow-up with an audio wouldn't be too bad an idea. Especially since it's fairly short. You have such a huge reading list!

Jennifer Pope (jenjunum) | 902 comments I am overwhelmed in life and work, as is my husband, and we completely neglected to sign up for our synagogue seder, which I was going to use as an excuse this year to not cook. So I will be rushing to prepare something tonight. Oops. Thankfully I have an instant pot now so I can get that brisket done quickly and it actually tastes quite good! I am not sure what I will be doing for the rest of it but you remind me that I don't think I have enough apples for charoset! And that's the best part in my opinion. May have to do a quick run to the store. Ahhhh. Or delay to tomorrow. :/

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8421 comments Amy, your menu sounds delicious. I noticed at the grocery store on Sunday that both brisket and lamb were the big "sale" items. I love to cook but this Easter weekend Hubby and I have decided to go out. We're headed for a big lake resort about an hour north of our house for a relaxing weekend getaway, including a big Sunday brunch. I'm sure the food won't be as good as we'd have at home ... but then, I also won't have any dishes to do.

Amy | 12930 comments Last night was delicious and lovely! One more night to go! Have so loved everyone's love messages and hearing about others seders and holidays. Everyone have a warm and special holiday.

Oh - and I only do print. Physical books. Library girl. There is no iota of space in my life for an audio, I wouldn't even have the slightest idea of when and how. I have a friend who does them in the car. But I work 2 minutes away and have three ADHD boys. Sweet, but very high energy, and I am on the go without stopping 24/7/365. I read between patients, with a cup of coffee, while waiting for kids in the car once in awhile, and in bed every morning and night.

Anita Pomerantz | 9283 comments Everyone's menus sound mouth watering!! I haven't slowed my reading for cooking, but oh my gosh, have I slowed it for baseball. Hopefully I will get my fill soon (I miss it so much in the off season) and get back with the program on the reading front!

Happy Passover and Happy Easter to everyone celebrating those!!
