Mama X (mamax) Hello everyone! I didn't see a thread to introduce ourselves, but I wanted to say hi. I've never published, but I am determined. I love reading indie and underdog books. I do believe in giving honest reviews, and just recently (sadly) gave a read-to-review a 2 star. I wanted to cry. :( But I just couldn't lie and say it was a shining 5 star. I would hope that everyone who reads my books would do the same for me. I learn more from someone telling me my mistakes than telling me what they think I want to hear.

Anyway! Back to my not publishing... I've never actually finished a book. The problem is that I used to be a pantser or whatever people call it. I didn't prepare. I didn't outline. I wrote crap. LoL Some people use this method and it works fine. I think Stephen King does this. I personally didn't write anything good, I always got stuck, and before you know it I quit!

I'm currently in pre-writing for a novel which I am considering calling Life After Life.
This is not a synopsis, since I'm still editing that as I go, but here's a quick summary without any big spoilers:

Death and Life are beings very similar to gods. In the afterlife, there are reapers who are actually the people who kill people who have "escaped death", bankers who help souls to the other side, and purifiers who purify lost and corrupt souls. Lavender is the child of Life and Death, the only one who has ever been sent down to Earth as a human, and Life's favorite child. When she was born, before she was sent to Earth, she was named Spirit. And that is exactly what she is.

Life is out of control, helping the humans to create more ways to escape death. After humans pass their expiration date, so to speak, they are marked for reaping. More and more people are marked, and there aren't enough reapers to keep things under control. And the longer people are marked, the more corrupt they become, spreading evil, violence, and destruction. If a soul becomes too corrupt, they become sharks, incurable evil spirits who feed off wandering souls.

At 18 years old, Lavender's death comes all too soon, but she soon learns her purpose. Death has given her the job as Head Reaper, and she must learn fast. All the while, she must grow close to her new mother, Life, and talk sense into her before Life inadvertently does the one thing that she, and her husband Death, do not want: the destruction of the planet.

Hi Carrie -- good point, I will add an Introduce yourself topic right now and move this over.

Also, this is a pretty cool story idea. I'd like to invite you to one of my sister groups which you might find helpful: New Authors talk Shoppe -->>

I think that sounds a great synopsis, and I hope you write it, because I'd certainly read it. I'm very new here too, but haven't introduced myself yet. I will soon, when I'm a bit more familiar with how things work here! Good luck.
