What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I apologize for being so vague in my descriptuon. I haven't read this book, but I did read the book description and I seem to remember it being about a boy who reads books, or maybe follows clues in them. There might be something about his father or time travel. Please excuse my not being able to come up with more details.
I believe I read the description here on goodreads, and I have only been active since august 2016, so it might be a newly published book. I should have added it to a to-read list, but I cannot find it there.

I would, but I simply don't remember it. Thank you very much for trying - it sounds a little bit like the first one but I really do think the boy has to read books throughout the story...

Might be a bit of a stretch but could be Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It doesn't specifically mention books in the description but he does read quite a bit to solve the puzzles and follows clues.

The Book Scavengers?

I'm not positive, but I think maybe the book Anne was trying to suggest is Book Scavenger by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman, which is a really good guess imo. There are a couple other books in the series.

Is it the 39 Clues books?
