What subgenere do you think this book belongs in? Supernatural thriller? Is supernatural thriller even a subgenere of horror?

Do you have any recommendations for books like it?

What I liked about this story is that It has a driving plot and tightness of content in which almost everything is linked--that is to say, used in the end. Even its apparently pseudo-scientific ramblings make their mark in the finale, which, by the way, is one of the most inventive ways of torturing people--which is another thing that I'm looking for: new ways of psychologically torturing people and new monsters.

Hi Alex, I would rate Supernatural Thriller and Horror as separate genres as you can have stories that are,

[1] Supernatural Thrillers without Horror, and

[2] Horror without either Supernatural or Thrilling (think slow creeping...) elements.

That said, there must be stories that have all three elements, so there would be an overlap genre.
