I'm working in sports ministry in Germany and after many years of spreading the Gospel in the very sacular world of horse trade fairs, my friends and I have developed a strong attitude.
The more trouble we have, the more convinced we are that we are on the right track. For this year's Equitana in March (named the world's largest horse trade fair) we had personal tragedy, disease, fights and fights and even more fights with people around us to handle, but every single member of our team (about 40 people in all) did not budge and went ahead and proclaimed God in word and deed for 9 days straight. I believe the devil was throwing fits because of us, but he couldn't beat us down. And even though I cried bitter tears because of the hurt inflicted on me, I now sit here and smile as I write it because I know the devil lost a battle.
So yes, I do consider troubles an opportunity for joy. A stubborn joy, born of the knowledge that Jesus is victorious, which will carry me through the pain.
