OMG Ang! I had no idea that Joe Hill was Stephen King's son till your post just now! Color me stupid! I just googled him & he looks so much like his dad, it's uncanny. I've read Heart-Shaped Box, Horns and am halfway through NOS4A2... I always make jokes about Stephen King's children being scared of bedtime stories. Double duh!!

Eunice | 666 comments What kinds of creepy stuff are there in NOS4A2? Anything extreme? I'm planning on reading it within the next few months and I want to get a gauge on whether I'd like it or not because that book is expensive.

I only got about halfway so far & put in on hold till Halloween for this year. There were all these references to 'Christmastown' where little girls & boys go to live forever. Creepy much? But nothing specific. Just general creeps... I say if Ang's Aunt Kitty loved it at age 95, go for it! Incidentally I had an Aunty Kitty, too! She passed on years ago, but also quite a character and big reader. Who knew?

Sorry haven't been able to read a lot since I'm drowning in work for uni at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to catch up on my reading soon!

I read NOS4A2 as an audio. The narrator did an amazing creepy voice for the bad guy.

I think 11/22/63 was really good and actually a pretty quick read! Give it a try!

I bought NOS4A2 when it was on sale. I did not realize who he was. I may have to see if I can get the audio at a discounted price.

I love BDB. I couldn't get enough of them. I am kind of sad that I am caught up on the series and now have to wait for the next one.

Lauri (otwlauri) | 1723 comments Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend! I've made a huge dent in Strange the Dreamer. Should finish tomorrow. I'm liking it so well, I think I'll read Daughter of Smoke & Bone next month!

I've just been working on my piles of laundry, bags full of library books & binge watching random new release movies on Netflix! My favs so far: Zootopia and Train to Busan -- it's a Korean movie with ZOMBIES! Highly recommended for all fans of the Walking Dead.

Mine is the Audio version - I pick the default edition page count when I use an audio. (I found that in the main rules for NBRC sometime ago.....)

In my past challenges - if an audio version was used, the page count had to be updated on the Page Override tab, in order to get the page count reflected.

message 573: by Eunice (new)

Eunice | 666 comments Mine was the ebook version but the page of the book didn't include a page count so I'm not sure how to correct that.

I liked Train to Busan. It was a pretty good movie. The ending was pretty sad though. My eyes got all teary.

I forced myself to finish that one the first time around. I don't think it's worth the 20 points for the re-read.

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Can I ask what's probably a really obvious question? How do you win at Tower Teams?

I was pretty sure last year it was something like first team to a certain number of points (25000??) but I can't actually find anything. The "All About Tower Teams" thread says look at winner categories but I can't see any winner categories anywhere. Am I missing something really obvious?

message 582: by [deleted user] (new)

There doesn't seem to be a points target this time. I'm taking it as the winner is the team with the most points at the time the challenge finishes on 29th July. Not sure whether they will do other categories too.

Ora (oeamis) Angie ☯ wrote: "What did you think of Needful Things, Ora?"

I loved it. I was planning on taking a couple of days to read it but couldn't put it down once I started it. Leland was one creepy character. I couldn't believe what things people are willing to do once a little corruption...evil enters in them in order to get what they want. He did cause a lot of chaos and violence.
I was disturbed with Ryan committing suicide. The situation to what drove him and his brother watching him was just messed up.

I read somewhere the rules about this but I can't find them!
