♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments Did you like the Delirium series? I'm almost finished with the first one. I like it so far and it is an easy read.

message 104: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 3092 comments Oh! I agree with Ang F-P....I loved/hated Heartless too! Can't wait to hear how you guys like it!

I haven't read the Lunar Chronicles but have had it on my TBR for quite a while. Guess I need to bump it up some!

message 105: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments I absolutely loved the Lunar Chronicles and Heartless although it gave me some major cake cravings :D

I've actually just finished reading Want You Gone, a thriller by Chris Brookmyre, which was really good and trying to decide what to pick up next. I seem to be reading a lot of thrillers at the moment so I'm feeling like I need some YA.

I'm thinking maybe the Talon series by Julie Kagawa. I need some dragons :)

message 106: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I love Cinder!!! It is a must read series.
I bought Talon a while back when it was on sale because Julie Kagawa was recommended to me as an author to read.

If you like dragons you just have to read The Great Zoo of China. I read that one last month and it sucked me right in.

Thanks for the recommendation, adding it to my TBR mountain now :D

I've always had kinda mixed views on Kagawa. I wasn't overly keen on The Iron King and gave up after book 2 (the MC annoyed me) but I loved The Immortal Rules and Talon. She also makes little dragons and sells them on Etsy. I want one, they are so cute but they tend to go in minutes

Ora (oeamis) Alison, I just signed up for DQs for A Man in Moscow. I am on the wait list from my library. I'm #13 for 3 copies. I may be asking for help if I don't have the book yet and get chosen.

AudioBookSync gives free audio books during the summer for teens, but there have been some really good titles; they give 2 books per week for 16 weeks.

Here is the current year link: 2017 Titles

message 123: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) By and chance are we going to have a books read thread? Is this something I should ask the mods?

message 124: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments No problem Ora. I got the book a while ago from NetGalley so I'm good to go and will definitely be participating whether I'm picked for DQs or not.

ChrisP Poyner | 67 comments Alison wrote: "No problem Ora. I got the book a while ago from NetGalley so I'm good to go and will definitely be participating whether I'm picked for DQs or not."

I though that each team member the reads the BOM would get points to the team and only one person can write DQ's, but we all can participate on answering the questions. Am I incorrect?

Only one person can from our team will be chosen, however Ashley pointed out earlier in one of the BOM threads that if we have more than one person signing up for DQs it will increase our chance for our team to get chosen to write them.

message 127: by ♦Ashley♦ (new)

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments Also, yes...as many that want to will get extra points for participation. Only one of us will get to do DQ, but I've also seen where no one is chosen from a specific team. They use a randomizer to choose, so if 3 people volunteer for DQ, then we have 3 chances.

message 128: by ♦Ashley♦ (new)

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments ....at least that is how I think it works lol. Maybe we should double check. I dont want to tell everyone the wrong thing.

Oh I looooove Matthew Reilly and have The Great Zoo of China ready and waiting to be read. I may need to bump it up a lot sooner than I was planning now.

message 130: by ♦Ashley♦ (new)

♦Ashley♦ (ascherger12gmailcom) | 1131 comments I didn't realize it was first come, first serve. I thought they included everyone that volunteered, then chose randomly still only taking one per team. So if someone was dead set on doing DQ for The Circle or Strange the Dreamer, I don't mind being a back up. I was just trying to maximize our points:)

message 131: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Does that mean if not enough teams sign up for DQs, there is a chance that we may have two people from out team to do questions?

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

There is a chance but a small one. The DQs are always much more popular when you get points for a team challenge. Also books tend to be split between 3 to 6 days worth of questions depending on how long the book is so it's not that hard to fill all the spots.

It will be randomised if there are more teams volunteering for DQs than needed which is the likeliest option. Strange the Dreamer already has 8 teams volunteering.

message 135: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 1723 comments I keep obsessively rereading the rules. I can't get over the fact that we can read anything we choose! I'm coming off of several very restrictive challenges right now. For example, in a challenge with another group, this week my team has to find a book with "some" in the title that has to be either: a) a romance b) have a gun on the cover c) have the author's last name start with the letter A d) have a cover that's 50% green e) have a title that starts with one of the letters in FRIEND or f) have a number in the title. I mean, seriously?? I'm off to the library to look for this magical unicorn of a book!

You can see why I'm extra-excited for Tower to start!!

We are about to start on Fairest. We just finished Cress last week. I think Cress was my favorite so far. Looking forward to finding out about Levana's back story... I'll rack up points if I read Winter during Tower! I'm not sure how many pages it has, but it kinda looks like the old phone books used to! Who remembers the official Telephone Directories before cell phones? :)

I felt sorry for Levina at first, but that quickly changed. Fairest does gives insight why she is the way she is. Makes you wonder how Cinder would have turned out if she stayed on Luna.

message 144: by Eunice (new)

Eunice | 666 comments Sorry I'm late in checking in. Horribly bad internet, but I'm getting around to replacing it soon. Hopefully.

I'm a student, though I'm currently on vacation with school starting by the end of May. This is my first time joining this challenge, so I'm a bit excited. Though I haven't been in the mood to read, which is annoying the heck out of me. I read most fictional genres so I'm ok with reading almost anything, but I like adventurous or action-filled books, which is why I lean more on fantasy, sci-fi, and thriller.

Here's my shelf (I'm not sure if it's right. Please do check).

Ora (oeamis) HI Eunice! What's your major?
I think everyone goes through a reading slump. Hopefully it will be over by the time TT starts.

message 146: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) I just saw a preview for The Circle starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks. Does any one know if it's based off of the BOM The Circle?

Thanks! But I read it already. I really enjoyed it too. I ended up with That Perfect Someone because they decided to allow compound words since everyone was having such a hard time! I haven't read a romance voluntarily in years!
Y'all wouldn't believe how many books I have on deck just waiting for 5/4!!

I can't believe I didn't think about that. Reading way too much this week for a challenge Angie I this month.

Just wanted to stop by and say hey this morning. Has anyone ever played "Would you rather"?
Would you rather have the ability to fly or the power to become invisible?
