Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Hi

this is the thread for the next round of nominations. This month you may nominate for 2 books. One must have been published prior to 1990 and one after 1995. All books must be accessible in different formats and countries.

Please keep your nominations together on one post. You may second one of each. Please link your nominations. No young adult or scifi please. No bickering and as I will be checking and trawling through them all, I will get final say on any issues. No I will not be nominating or voting.

This double trouble system means that I will be closing in 3 days or so. I will accept the first 8 books in both categories that have been properly nominated and seconded.

let us have some exciting reads. Thanks as always

Dan Howitt I'm going to suggest Imaro for my pre-1990 and Lion of Senet for my post-1995. I haven't read either of them, so I can't say anything about their quality, but I've been planning to read both.

message 5: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments OK, for pre-1990 I'll again nominate God Stalk by P.C. Hodgell -- most easily available as the first half of The God Stalker Chronicles.

For post-1995, hmmm, how about Karavans by Jennifer Roberson? Been sitting on my shelf for a while ...

message 6: by Beth (last edited Jun 09, 2014 03:46PM) (new)

Beth Johnson (planetarypan) I'm just going to nominate for a pre-1990 book, The Darkling Hills by Lori Martin:

The Darkling Hills by Lori Martin

I loved this book so much when I first read it 25+ years ago, but the sequel only came out in Germany (in German). I recently found out the author re-released this book last year and will be re-releasing the sequel sometime soon.

Athena Shardbearer I nominate Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly before 1990

Athena Shardbearer I nominate Fallen Dragon by Peter F. Hamilton after 1995

We read Kushiels's Dart, April of 2013.

As for The Neverending Story, it might be a little too young adult.
:(

Maggie K | 282 comments I will second Suldrun's Garden

Both good books when I read them years ago

message 39: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Ok we have 8 books seconded for before 1990. Last chance to second 2 more post 95 before I close.

we will not be reading the neverending story as it is too young for this group. Nor will any books previously read or being scifi or ya make it to the list.

I would appreciate it if when nominating you could all keep it simple with a nomination or second. Please link the book and add an author. Also check that it is readily available in different formats and try to keep chat to a minimum. This will help me loads when trawling through your lists. Just as an example you nominated 20 odd books this time.

Thankyou for your assistance it is much appreciated.

Remember 2 more seconds needed for the books published after 1995 only. No more nominations please or seconds for the pre 1990s books.
