Ellen B I don't have any background info to add right now, but I have read through the first few chapters of Book I. (view spoiler)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 1285 comments Hi, just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten. :D I aim to get started next week.

message 3: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments I aim to get to this, but I need to finish Moby Dick first.

message 4: by Ellen (new)

Ellen B No problem. We can push it off for a bit more; I just started Don Quixote.

message 5: by Emerson (new)

Emerson | 282 comments I was gonna, but my order has been delayed three times, it is six months overdue!

I read the first few chapters online, the story goes fast! It is like a welcome resumé of such books as Merlin by Boron and the anonymous Lancelot in 5 volumes.

Michele | 935 comments Looking forward to this discussion.

Myst | 147 comments I'm still only 75% through Moby Dick. The font in the physical book must be tiny for it to be taking this long...

Sarah | 468 comments I still wanted to do this, but looks like this popped up while I was on vacation and I didn't notice it when I got home.
Is anyone still reading it or planning to do so?

message 9: by Ellen (new)

Ellen B I'm not sure when I'll get back to it. Life happened. ;)

message 10: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments I think I can squeeze it in in june. It looks like it's only 500ish pages. My only other june buddy reads I think are Othello and The Little Mermaid. I may skip Othello though.

Myst | 147 comments I've officially started.

I'm using the Xist classics version Le Morte D'Arthur and I don't know if it's abridged, but it feels like it's *way* too short so far.

For a 500-600 page book, to get 3% read while driving for about 30 min total is crazy. Usually I'll manage 1-2% for that short amount of time.

message 12: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments I've hardly spent any time with Le Morte de Arthur, and I'm already 17% through.

Anyone else notice it gets *really* repetitive at times? One example is in book 1 it talks about how 9 or 10 kings were going to bring 5000 men with them to some battle.

"Also there swore King (name) to bring five thousand men of arms on horseback" repeated 9 or 10 times.

Myst | 147 comments Got to a library today and looked up a different copy of Le Morte D'Arthur.

The Xist Classics appears to just be vol. 1. Although why it doesn't *say* it's vol. 1 is anyone's guess.

Either way I'm like 29% though volume 1 now.

message 14: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments Not done yet. When I've been driving it's been a lot of stops in a row which is inconvenient for starting/stopping kindle narration.

Up to 60% through vol. 1.

And is it just me, or do the names take up more page space than the story...it's all Sir (name) and Sir (name) and King (name) and King (name) which gets kinda dull to read when it's not really describing what the people are doing, it's just listing names or else I'm missing what they're doing since I'm getting lost in all the names.

message 15: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments Part 1 is done. Since I don't have part 2, and part 1 bored the snot out of me, I give up.

message 16: by Ellen (new)

Ellen B That's fine. I think I ran into that same issue, though much earlier. May give it another shot some other time. Hope you find a more interesting read soon. :)
