5. How does Valmont manipulate language in his letters to Presidente de Tourvel? In what ways does he play upon, even pervert, her religious beliefs?

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments He uses a lot of double entendres, and confusing language. He perverts bible verses and beliefs to his own purpose in order to confound her.

agree with Tracy, I did enjoy the epistolary format in which the reader can see how the use of language can be so twisted.

I was probably not as attuned to language as you all but I did see he crafted his letters to suit his audience.

Agree with you all he was also very persuasive in his arguments
