Lieke | 1723 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I'm up to date in The Invisible Library series (The Burning Page), but book 4 will be out later this year (december). And I read the fourth book (The Magicians of Caprona) in the Chrestomanci series, this is not the last book but I probably won't read the other books.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
Not really but I reread De Vlucht, the first book in the Windsingers series. I will continue the series that is why I reread the 1st book.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
Beside the already mentioned I moved forward in three series.
Dead to the World, book 4 in the Sookie Stackhouse series
The Farseekers, book 2 in The Obernewtyn Chronicles
Fairest, book 3.5 in The Lunar Chronicles

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
My favorite was a non series book: En man som heter Ove
A great book about a grumpy old man, I had tears in my eyes but other moments made me smile.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
Overall I'm satisfied with my reading, I read a total of 12 books.

You had a wonderful month, Lieke! If I'm understanding the translation, your five star read is A Man Called Ove. I've got that book to read and am glad you loved it.

MsChris1161 (chris1161) | 18 comments I completed Jamie Farrell's Misfit Brides of Bliss series. Very cute. Loved the premise of a small town totally built up for the bridal/wedding industry. Kind of like a Christmas town. The standout for me was Sugared, the 4th book in the series, but all were enjoyable.

1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
I got up to date in one series, Southern Comfort by Lisa Clark O'Neill.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
I started four new series and plan to continue them all:
Silver Springs by Brenda Novak
Erin Prince by Stacy Green
Blood Brothers by Rebecca Zanetti
Beach Lane by Laura Moore

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
I moved forward in eight series:
Will Trent by Karin Slaughter
Shore Leave Cafe by Abbie Williams
Tracers by Laura Griffin
Black Ops, Inc. by Cindy Gerard
Cork O'Connor by William Kent Krueger
Harry Bosch by Michael Connelly
Romantic Suspense by Karen Rose
The McCarthys of Gansett Island by Marie Force

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I had three this month: Unseen, Making Waves, and Blood Hollow. All were standouts for different reasons and the biggest surprise was Making Waves, which I thought would be a fluffy beach read but was so much more. Honorable mention to The Lincoln Lawyer for introducing a fascinating character.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
I had a very pleasurable reading month and the group reads are fitting my goals like a glove. I'm just happy that I'm really enjoying them all. It was a surprise, though, to learn as I was putting this together that I'd started four new series:)

Unseen (Will Trent, #7) by Karin Slaughter Making Waves (Beach Lane, #1) by Laura Moore Blood Hollow (Cork O'Connor, #4) by William Kent Krueger The Lincoln Lawyer (Mickey Haller, #1; Harry Bosch Universe, #16) by Michael Connelly

message 14: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (trakka) | 1363 comments 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?
Yes 2!

I finished reading with my girls the Naughtiest Girl series by Enid Blyton / Anne Digby. We were quite sad that this one is finished! Anne Digby does a great job in continuing the series.

I am also up to date with the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. My comfort series.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?
Not this month

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?
3 series:
1. Harry Bosch / Mickey Haller by Michael Connelly
2. Inspector Rebus by Ian Ranking
3. Gaslight mysteries by Victoria Thompson

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?
I had 3 x 5 stars this month:

My absolute favourite, even though it was very hard to read, was The Pianist: The Extraordinary Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw, 1939–45. I am continuously astounded at the strength of human nature and how some people survived during the WWII. This account by someone who survived is just incredible. It brought a lot of tears and gasps from me.

Sarah's Key was also a very moving book.

I loved reading A Little Princess to my girls. The story was completely different to what I expected and it was just lovely. I haven't read The Secret Garden and will have to rectify that!

5. Overall summary of your reading month?
Another good month with lots of great books read and progress in series.

Yes. I completed the Graveyard Queen series by Amanda Stevens.

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?

Yes. The Waking Fire Draconis Memoria by Anthony Ryan. I plan to continue. It was such a compelling fantasy steampunk book.

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?

Yes. 3 series this month.
Proven Guilty Dresden Files #8
Blood Hollow Cork O'Connor #4
Dark Road to Darjeeling Lady Julia Grey #4

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?

I had four 5 star reads last month. I can't recall the last time I had so many in a month.

Proven Guilty for me this series is getting better and better. I love how the secondary characters are rotated between books.
Blood Hollow I found it incredibly sad and I'm really enjoying the authors writing.
Burial Rites Standalone this month and I was blabbering by the end of this one.
The Waking Fire The author made me think I might actually like steampunk fantasy novels.

5. Overall summary of your reading month?

Really enjoyable month. Finally completed another series and had some really outstanding reads. Also pleased that I'm managing to keep up with the two series reads I've committed to this year.

Allison (rainy-day-reads) 1. Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?

I completed another of my 'one book remaining' series, finishing my Harry Potter re-read. I'm trying to finish one series per month to stay on my goal of 12 for the year. So far so good.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?

I started one new series with One for Sorrow, a historical mystery set in Medieval Byzantium. I am interested in continuing at some point, but not right away.

One for Sorrow (John the Eunuch, #1) by Mary Reed

3. Did you move forward in any series? How many?

No, I only had 2 series reads this month.

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?

I finally got around to reading Tigana and I absolutely loved it. It has really well-developed characters who grow and change realistically. The writing is beautiful and the world and characters nuanced.

Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay

5. Overall summary of your reading month?

I read 7 books, including some impulse reads. I'm trying to allow myself that flexibility so that reading doesn't become a chore I've set for myself. At least they were standalones so my series list didn't grow much. I enjoyed most of what I read in addition to Tigana, so it was a good month.

Laura This month was a very slow reading month for me.
I got current in 3 series All You Need (Need You, #3) by Lorelei James 5 stars Commander in Chief (White House, #2) by Katy Evans also a new series. This book was 2 1/2, stars but I will continue the series because Katy Evans is one of my favorite authors. Romance readers who like books low in angst will love this. It is totally smooth sailing. Me, I need some action, or drama to happen it was just too perfect for my taste.
Roman (Cold Fury Hockey, #7) by Sawyer Bennett another solid installment in the Cold Fury series.

Made progress in 2 Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8) by J.D. Robb Whisper No Lies (Black Ops Inc., #3) by Cindy Gerard

I had 2 5 star books Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8) by J.D. Robb My favorite so far. As much as I hated what happened to Eve in this I much prefer a vulnerable Eve, and All You Need (Need You, #3) by Lorelei James . My favorite of this series. It keeps getting better with each book.

I only read 5 books ☹️. My son plays baseball so that is how I spent my month.
