Rachel | 30 comments I've finished it now and loved it. Great characters and a lively writing style. Dismayed with myself for not knowing about the dictator Trujillo. I don't know any Spanish so was glad I read it on the kindle with the translation feature.

Adriana (momanem35) | 19 comments I just started this one - I'm very behind, I know - and I'm absolutely loving it! I've already had a couple of laugh out loud moments. I'll have to refrain from reading on the bus or at my desk at lunchtime lest I come across more laugh out loud instances and people around me think I'm losing my marbles.

Kristianne | 14 comments Yeah, I felt the same way. The D&D references were particularly hilarious.
I'd love to see Junot Diaz write a history book on the DR also. I think he'd bring unique and funny insight.

Peter (petersface) | 80 comments Finally I read this too, and felt pretty similar to you too:) Diaz even manages to write actual tragic scenes where you can't stop laughing despite everything.

Also, this one was the most contemporary in the Bowie list so far - so I hope this is why I got so many of the references, and not because I'm a nerd myself:)
