I've read a lot of good books this year. Of course, there have been a few stinkers, but mostly I've read good ones. I read a lot of different genres, so my favorites are all over the place.
I've been on a YA kick this year. Some favorites were Fangirl, The Sky Is Everywhere, Tell Me Three Things, A Monster Calls, and The Sun Is Also a Star.
I started reading some middle grade stuff too. The best ones so far have been The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and Wonder.
My favorite classics for this year have been Northanger Abbey, The Call of the Wild and The Brothers Karamazov.
Favorite fantasy novels have been The Hobbit and A Game of Thrones.
For contemporary novels, I've enjoyed Pretty Girls, The Beach, and The Mothers.
I haven't read a lot of non-fiction this year. What I have read is mostly memoirs. A couple of faves were The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band and 84, Charing Cross Road. Completely different from each other, but both are good in their own way.
Any books you'd recommend? I have a long TBR list, yet I continue to look for more books to read. :)

I've been pretty fortunate myself to enjoy most of the books that I've read so far :) I loved A Monster Calls! Well, I cried my little heart out, but really liked it and the movie.
The Wonder is on the list of books I'm really looking forward to. Actually, I've kind of started it but then another book caught my attention instead.
I really want to get to The Brothers Karamazov, The Hobbit and Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings and all those doorstoppers, but the question is when.
Anyways, if you enjoy fantasy, I'd recommend American Gods. For historical fiction, I really liked The Light Between Oceans and if you want magical realism The Golem and the Jinni was a fantastic book :)
And my all time favorite is The Little Prince

Yes, A Monster Calls had me in tears too. Such an emotional book! I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy years ago and enjoyed them, so I knew The Hobbit would be something I would like. Not sure why it took me so long to get around to reading it though. The Brothers Karamazov and Game of Thrones surprised me. The only problem with liking the Game of Thrones is that now I can't wait to read the rest of the series. So my TBR list grew.
Thanks for the suggestions! American Gods and The Little Prince are already on my TBR list, and I added the other two books. I almost picked up The Little Prince last week, but didn't have time to read it. My reading has slowed a bit over the summer, so maybe later in the year I'll read it.
