This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Thanks.

Wow...some really good choices everyone. I had a hard time picking and also added more books to my WTR list.

Agnieszka - I have Buried and Deceptive but added No Safe Haven to my list. If you end up with one of those I will try to read along.

Vickie - I hear you about the old kindle books. I went crazy with a lot of freebies a few years back, lol. I chose The Hunted for you and what a creepy cover Evil Cries is. I have a thing about creepy dolls and porcelain dolls. Clowns don't bother me though, lol.


Aesaan - I just finished Dark Matter and really liked it. I am also going to read Red Rising this month.

Patricia - I have never read anything by Clive Cussler. How is he?

Dana - You have some awesome book choices. I was going to choose Uganda Be Kidding Me to get you out of a slump but then I went with Anne Of Green Gables because I would also like to read that. BTW, I loved Salt to the Sea. Are you reading Rizzoli and Isles in order?

Mandy-Fulll Dark looks really good. I added that one to my WTR list. I also have The Dinner on my list and I own it. One day I will read it, lol.

Every once in a while I am in the mood for an adventure and Clive Cussler is pretty good at delivering. I guess you can equate his books to Indiana Jones.

Cool good to know, perhaps I'll give it a chance if my library has a cope. I notice most of his books are series - can you read those out of order or do they contain spoilers to previous books in series?

Good to know, I'll let you know if I plan to read those. I don't know if you're aware Buried is a third book of the Bone Secrets series. Each books deals with a more or less unique setting losely linked together (crime, couple, perp) and the previous one had only some minor references to the first one in series and the first (debut novel) was the weakest and they get better with each book according to friends from the RS groups.
In case you ever read False Identity and are interested in exchange I would love to read this one with you. I have it on my Kindle quite a time now and there were always other 'more urgent' books I wanted to read first :-)

BTW another one I got for free about the same time that looks quite interesting is The Next Target - I could immagine you could be interested in :-)

I'm pretty sure I'll like it - it's one of those I wanted to read for about two years now, but there're just too many great books and I wasn't able to find that time machine yet, that makes time stop as soon as you start to read and makes it possible to read everything you really want to ;-)

I noticed recently the third book in the series (Serpents in the City) is finally out - I started to wonder why it was gone from Amazon for more than a year now - and think it took the author just a little bit longer than planned to finish it :-)

I can't decide between Without Fail & Shadow Dance - let's see in about two week how I think about these or if you have a tie to break :-)
BTW: My library got recently The Affair (one of the Jack Reacher chronologically set before book 1) and now I'm looking forwad to read it as soon as I finished my buddy reads and PIFM books :-)

Thanks Lisa, I feel like Anne is a good choice and I probably should have read it by now! I am currently on book 6 of Rizzoli & Isles... I am really enjoying them so far - easy but entertaining reads. I like that they mix a lot of science/medical aspects into it. Have you read them?

Perri - I will count Unbroken then, and we can do a Cinder group read together!

Patricia - The Cutaway because I hope it is intense, just because it is based around TV/newsroom.

Dana - Anne of Green Gables looks great as well however, since I have Salt to the Sea on my TBR, I looked up for it and found about a prequel novel, Between Shades of Gray set approximately 2 years before Salt to the Sea and both look really good. And also I assumed you voted for To kill a mockingbird, which looks like your fav :)

Lisa - I am reading Dark Places atm, which is very interesting... and could read Red Rising along with you, probably towards the end of the month since I have no plans as of yet...

I'll read that with you one of these days if you want:) I read the first two of the Rizzoli and isles series and really liked them. I tend to fall very far behind in series.

Speaking of animals I have to share this one with you. I am halfway through Hannah's Dream which is such a sweet story. A man has been a handler for a female elephant, Hannah, since she was 3 years old. He has been with her for 40 years and has a special relationship with her. Before he can retire he wants to make sure she will be in good hands. I love elephant stories:)

Aesaan-I see you picked Take Me with You for me to read. I have been meaning to read Catherine Ryan Hyde books for years. She wrote Pay It Forward and I really liked that movie.

Lisa, I'm sorry for the loss of your furry friend. Racing in the Rain is one of very few books I read twice and yes I cried just as much the second time. LOVED that book. Thanks for the Hannah, book. I love elephants as well. Have you read \

Dana, yes animal stories can be hard. When I was a student, I read The Yearling in school, and learned an important lesson about reading books like that in private ;)

I wish I could read all my choices in a month..too many books! Not that I'm complaining!

Dana, I like that plan! I think there were some others interested in Cinder. Maybe when you all are done reading All The Light? I bet Cinder is a faster, less intense read.

Aessaan, this group picked Dark Matter for me to read one month. I liked it! What did you think of Gone Girl?

I have only read the movie adaptation of Gone Girl and I loved it. I want to read the book as well but not sure how different it is so I picked Dark Places by same author, which I'm abt to finish.

And it looks like 'Dark Matter' and 'And Then There Were None, are leading in votes... both looks good. Overexcited for next month right now...

Ack ,sorry Aessan, I meant Dark PLACES the other Gillian Flynn book. Although I've also read Dark Matter, and you can't go wrong with either book

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it's gabage. It would be more appropriate to say you disliked the book and let the other with different taste, way of thinking (understanding) or POV form their own opinion!
I don't know if you are aware how hurting that kind of statments can be, of if you simply don't care - which I hope is not true.

Yes I have read that. That was my first elephant book. I loved it.

Oh yeah....cried happy tears at the end of Hannah.

I really enjoyed Artemis Fowl and the last one is fantastic in the way Colfer handles the storyline - true genius.
I hope this one gets picked for you!

Did you read the other ones in the series?

This month I don't know whether to go for more crime/suspense/thrillers (my favourite) or something a bit different...

I'll have to let it sit a few days before I decide :)

Yes!I absolutely love the series and Nathaniel Parker (TV's Inspector Lynley) does a great job on the audiobooks.

Spain must be the hot spot now. Both a son of a friend and my nephew spent their honeymoons there last year. I know you will love it based on the raves I have heard from the boys. Their wives loved it too.

Hey! We love Barcelona. It's about three hours drive from us here in Montpellier. Great place.

(If you like snorkelling - I recommend visiting a beach called Tamariu close to Figueres - it's our favourite)

I've been to Spain and some Spanish Islands (Gran Canaria etc) but not made it to Barcelona, yet! It's on my list of places to go NEXT for sure!

Read your review and I agree. Some people -I think in the PIFM group- think Sharp Objects is her best
