Thanks to Business Insider we can now make an educated decision where to drink:


Kyiv is not on the list, but I can assure you that you get your beer cheaper there than in Prague + there is a Eurovision tonight there and possible other perks -:)

From memory, Prague beer is superb, so in my opinion, no reason to try Kyiv (Sorry, Nik). On the other hand, the cost of getting there is so ridiculous I shall try my local bottle store. One problem with that graph - is the size constant?

While everybody's looking at corona graphs, this one is not less intriguing, some would say - vital. How much is the beer in your area? And would you help an underage to purchase one? :)

An interesting graph for me because beer is apparently roughly a dollar cheaper in Wellington than Auckland, presumably due to property rental, but on the other hand, there is a wide variation in beer price here due to the presence of cheaper mass-produced lower alcohol (hence less tax) and craft beer.

Same comparison between London and rest of UK - sometimes over £1 per pint cheaper (still the UK measure in our closed pubs).

What's your current hit parade, the top 3?

Depends on the type of beer: heavy, medium bodied, or light. In my opinion, Guinness Draft is still the king of beers. For medium body there are many but I like Dundee Brown Ale. And for light, my go-to right now is Landshark Lager - feels so light and crisp going down but it packs a punch!

Anyway, that's how it stands today. Could change tomorrow. ;)

I live in the NYC area. Beer used to be cheap in the city. Now fuhgettaboutit.

Milwaukee prices are all over the place. I have paid $3 a bottle at a local bar to $6 at a restaurant. At home, In small town Arizona, we usually pay $5 a tall draft.

I would not help underage purchase it. It's not that I agree with the age being 21 here; it's that I know the resultant legal liabilities that can be thrown at the adult. I did let my children have tiny glasses of wine on special occasions in our home. Mostly, they didn't like it.

The first time I got drunk I was 15 and that was on homemade wine, which we figured out how to do from our lesson in biology on fermentation. (Remember that was before the internet so accessing such info was not easy as kids in the farmlands of NJ.) Those underage who want to drink alcohol will find a way.
