Hi All,
I'm looking for free honest reviews for my newest novel, Breya. It launches May 26, 2017. If you want to review it, I will send you a PDF copy of it. Please contact me either through this site or by emailing me at [email protected].

Exiled to Earth before she was born, Breya Elderberry, just wanted to live a normal existence. At any moment her life can dramatically change since her animal is near extinction on Earth and endangered in Erda. It is inevitable that someone or something will eventually find her and when it does she can only hope that the purity of her magic can save her.

Sneak Peek:
Chapter One
Breya

My head smacked the mirror in the women's bathroom. A small part of me wondered if I could sneak out through the window. No, it was too small and too high up. Maybe I could flee through the kitchen? But to be honest with myself, I would never feel right about doing something like that. Not that it would hurt my date's feelings if he even had any, but I knew it would wound his ego. And sometimes, that's worse. For all I knew, he might be a loose cannon.
T.J., my date whom I've dubbed, Total Jerk, arrived about a half hour late, ordered an appetizer that could feed a small army and refused to share it with me. And to top it all off, he couldn’t stop talking about himself. Seriously, this guy needed a reality check when it came to impressing women.
"That bad?" commented Zoe as she entered the restroom. No matter how well her date was going, my best friend knew to come and give me a pep talk at a moment’s notice.
The tension left my shoulders as I let it all out with a sigh, "Yeah... Total Jerk spent the last half hour describing his deluxe apartment in the city. And you know what?"
"It was all a lie."
"Yep. One lie after another and another. 'I love your earrings.' Lie. 'I think I saw them on a Hollywood actress.' Lie. 'Are you sure you want to order that? I heard they undercook their stake in this restaurant.' Lie..."
"Breya, stop right there." Zoe stood behind me while I observed her through the mirror.
"It's just that I feel so oily talking to him." I shuddered.
"One, he was probably trying to tell you that you look good without mentioning your body, and two, he probably didn't want to pay for one of the more expensive items on the menu." She gave me a supportive smile.
"I know that. I do. It's just that everything out of his mouth happens to be layered with one type of lie or another."
"Well, then," she fluffed her short chocolate brown tresses. A playful smile touched her lips as she sashayed around me. "Sucks being you." Zoe gave me a wink before heading out of the door.
I gave myself one last glance before following her out of the restroom into a narrow hallway. "True that, Sista. We can't all be owl shifters." I cringed as she allowed her head to rotate back toward me a little too far for comfort by normal human standards. "Stop that, or someone will see you."
"Stop what?" Her eyebrows wiggled above her amber colored eyes.
"Zoe!" One of the servers headed our way with a tray full of dirty dishes. Like many restaurants, this one's access to the restroom was down the hall that lead toward the kitchen from the dining room.
"Fine." She smirked, "But you owe me at least a half hour to let me gush about my hot date."
"Roger that." I returned her smirk before heading in the opposite direction toward my table.
Here's the thing with Zoe and me. We're not exactly what humans would call normal. We go back, way back to before we were born. Our mothers were both from the same shifter colony that once was outside Windermere and the Castleton Woods located in Earth's sister dimension, Erda. One day a group of poachers from the monarchy of Windermere crossed the border into the Castleton Woods and decided to hunt down our small group. Sadly, there were very few shifters left alive by the time the local Enforcers arrived on the scene. Enforcers are an international and interdimensional police force tasked to keep the peace between bloodthirsty beasts and nonaggressive folks like my parents.
Our moms were among the survivors. When the Enforcers learned that our mothers were pregnant, they contacted the Shifter Protection Program. The SPP sent them through the boundary to Earth since their animals were considered nonaggressive. They theorized if they sent them to Earth, they would be safe since less than half of a percentage point of the Earth's population possesses supernatural abilities.
"Miss..." A waiter's voice jarred me from my thoughts. Two empty chairs greeted me as I reached my table.
"Yes?"
"The young man you were dining with told me that he had a family emergency and to give you the bill." Truth.
Sitting down, I glanced at his dirty dessert plate. "He just up and left? Are you sure he's not in the restroom?" The initial wave of relief that coursed through my veins gave way to annoyance.
His gaze scanned the nearby tables as he spoke. "Positive, Miss..." Truth.
"Well, thank you anyway," I muttered. Total Jerk told me that he was going to pay for dinner at least ten times during our meal. So, I wasn't expecting to cover the entire check and the tip by myself.
When the waiter's attention was caught by someone else, he slipped away. As I sipped my lemonade, I felt my muscles relax and my heartbeat even out. Total Jerk may have skipped out on me, but at least I could enjoy eating my dessert. With that positive thought in mind, I dug in. At least I didn't need to use my ability to gauge when someone was lying to know that the cheesecake was top notch.
Glancing over the bill, my moment of feeling at ease ended. My fists clenched together, as my brain held back my not so lovely reaction. Total Jerk's portion of the check cost a lot more than mine. My meal was at least cheap since my animal couldn't stomach alcohol.
About fifteen minutes later, my anger fizzled out, leaving me to feel drowsy. It's not like it was super late out. Besides, since it was the end of August, it had only been dark out for about an hour. Yawning, I pulled out the appropriate amount for the tip before I sent Zoe a quick text to let her know that I was leaving and that she should text me if she needed anything.
I would have gone over to her table, on the other side of the restaurant, and told her in person, but since she seemed to be having fun, I decided against it. Plus, my limbs felt too lethargic to make the effort. As best friends, we typically looked out for each other. And since we decided to start going out with guys we met through sizzle.com, we scheduled our dates on the same night and at the same restaurant in case they turned out to be worse than Total Jerk. But tonight, was different. Zoe was on a decent date. So, I thought it would be best to just leave.
My vision blurred when I read Zoe's response. Okay, maybe I was more tired that I realized. Total Jerk mentally and emotionally exhausted me. I just needed to get out of there. But my muscles felt weak like I'd just ran a marathon which made it hard to stand without wanting to sit back down. I tried to tell myself that I sat the wrong way on the chair and that I just needed to shake it off.
Halfway out to the door, I almost knocked over a tray of food.
My stomach roiled. Was this how it felt to get food poisoning? Never in my twenty-seven years had I ever needed to take one sick day. My animal just wouldn't allow it.
The brisk night air was a welcome feeling on my cheeks. My car. Right. Where was my car? My feet carried me toward one side of the parking lot, but maybe my car was on the other side next to Zoe's SUV? A sense of fuzziness addled my brain making hard to think clearly.
"Breya!" Total Jerk's voice vibrated in my ears.
"You." My brows creased. Something was wrong with my tongue, it felt like it suddenly gained five pounds. "You left me with the bill... not cool."
"Sorry, about that." Lie. He wasn't sorry. Not sorry at all. Jerk. "Let me make it up to you by driving you home." His hand slid around my waist stabilizing my steps. When did he get so tall? It was like he was as tall as an umm... a very tall person?
"No... no... that's quite all right. I can drive fine." I fumbled with my keys. "See?"
They slipped from my fingers. Total Jerk continued to pull me away from where I can clearly see my car. All sense of control slipped through my fingers just like my keys. And the more I resisted him, the more I felt like I was being weighed down. Even my eyes refused to stay open, leaving me to pass out in Total Jerk's arms.
