On Dit - Favorite Heroes

Numero uno: Billy Blade from Lady of Desire book 4 of Gaelen Foley's Knight Miscellany Series.
A close second: Dominic Alastair, Marquis of Vidal from Devil's Cub by Georgette Heyer, second book in the series. Book one is about his parents and they appear in DC (Devil's Cub).
Bad guys both reformed by love.
Keating sounds interesting!

Nicholas O'Shea (Villain With A Big Heart)
Sebastian Devil In Winter (Another Bad Boy)
Do You see a trend here??

Jasper, Lord Damarel from Venetia; it's always fun to see a cynical rake fall in love, but I actually love him for his fun bantering with Venetia (they trade Shakespeare quotes like insults these two!).
I agree with Lacey, Nathaniel from A Gentleman's Game was precious.
Tristan Burke from Love and Other Scandals because he let the heroine discover her wings while also safely grounding her (literally! He arranges a ride in an hot air ballon for her)
Hugo Darracott from The Unknown Ajax. Another kind, laid-back, easygoing man with a mischievous smile (see the pattern? 😁)
Anthony Bridgerton, The Viscount Who Loved Me, Gareth St. Claire, It's in His Kiss, Marcus Holroyd, Just Like Heaven, Blake Ravenscroft, To Catch an Heiress, and pretty much most of JQ's heroes for the same reason 😊
Cam from Mine Till Midnight for being a calm rock for the entire Hathaway clan.
Oh and Marcus from It Happened One 2Autumn in all his stuffy glory 😁
And that's just off the top of my head 🤔

Dominic Alastair, Marquis of Vidal Devil's Cub is more of an anti hero. Not a nice fellow.
I love Dominic for the same reason that I love Brian Bois-Gilbert in Ivanhoe by Walter Scott. That reason is the capacity to love a good women. But neither are likable on their own merits.

James Malory from Gentle Rogue. He is Macho.
Another Lisa Kleypas hero, Rhys Winterborne from Marrying Winterborne.
Colin Bridgerton for his charm and his love of food:)
Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings from The Duke and I.

I agree with about JQ's heroes, I loved them all! and you reminded me of two of my favorites that I've forgotten to mentione: Marcus and Cam <3 I loved them too.

Well. All except Sir Richard Kenworthy... I actually disliked that one.

When an author can make you fall hard for a Hero that does not seem lovable. My Fav.

Marcus Marsden - It Happened One Autumn
Sebastian St. Vincent - Devil in Winter
Anthony Bridgerton - The Viscount Who Loved Me
Colin Bridgerton - Romancing Mister Bridgerton
Maximus Batten - Duke of Midnight
I have been really loving Anne Gracie heroes lately, particularly Freddie Monkton-Coombes from The Winter Bride and Zachary Black from The Spring Bride.
All-time favorites are hard to decide. =\

Also from Georgette Heyer:
Charles Audley from

Justin Alastair from

I also like Oliver Carleton from

Other favs (ooh, so many!)
Lucas, Duke of Harndon from Mary Balogh's

Also from Mary Balogh, the dreamy Nathaniel Gascoigne from

Wulfric Bedwyn from

And Wulfric's brother Rannulf Bedwyn from

Also Rothgar from

Oops, that's 10. I'd better stop now. It's scary how easy it was to come up with 10!

OMG, Miles! How could I forget about Miles :D

Mary Balogh; I don't remember that many of her books but I am deeply fond of the blinded hero from The Arrangement, even if I can't remember his name at the moment. He was such a sweetheart and he was so patient with his entire family.
Jo Beverley: Lucien from An Unwilling Bride, who is proud and haughty and very much something of a bitch. I still really like him. I can't seem to help it. It must be him being pretty, because I am shallow. Race from Hazard; untitled hypercompetent problemsolver. Tristan from St. Raven, who was really sweet and openminded.
Anne Gracie: Gideon from The Perfect Rake, who made me snicker everytime he was on screen. Also, his relationship with Prue was so adorable.
Cecelia Grant: Will from A Gentleman Undone, who was all good intentions and desperation and PTSD and sweetness, and who matched up beautifully with the heroine who has much harsher edges.
Courtney Milan: All of them. Every single one.
Elizabeth Hoyt: Winter from Thief of Shadows because I love my virgin heroes. Simon from The Serpent Prince because he was both funny and irreverant and deeply fucked up which is a combination I cannot resist apparently. Val from Duke of Sin who was very immoral and insane but not overtly domineering because that's what turns me off honestly.
Lisa Kleypas: Cam from Mine Till Midnight; sane, reliable, business-minded despite being ostracized as the other. He was such a sweetheart and I adored him.
This is FAR from a complete list but I've had enough typing for now.

Thank you for sharing, Sha. I haven't read all of these.
*goes to download kindle samples of new books to try* :D

It was my pleasure., I assure you. :)
Julie Anne Long: Jules from How the Marquess Was Won, because his dignity gets assaulted so many times through the course of the book. Adam from A Notorious Countess Confesses, a vicar who has his flock in his thrall with his good looks until he starts to fall in love with an ex-courtesan.
Kelly Bowen: Will from A Good Rogue Is Hard to Find, who is so very worried about his mother and her increasingly crazy ways that he moves in to take better care of her.
Loretta Chase: Benedict from Lord Perfect, who is very responsible and sober and sweet and so very worried about two kids running away on their own.
Maggie Fenton: Sebastian from Virtuous Scoundrel, a dramatic little shit who has decided to marry a piano and is PINING SO BADLY after his aunt and has been for years.
Rose Lerner: Ash from True Pretenses, who just wants to do one last con job so he can make his baby brother happy and was not expecting FEELINGS to get in the way.
Sherry Thomas: Felix from The Luckiest Lady in London, who is a manipulative little shit who cackles gleefully because he has found someone he can irritate (ie; be himself with).

Me too. Keep 'em coming!

It was my pleasure., I assure you. :)

I see a trend here.... LOL

On another note, is there a thread for favorite heroines?

I liked them both quite a bit. I enjoyed their interactions as father and son in Devil in Spring.
I don't think there is one for heroines, yet.

LOL Ally, hope it's not too much buildup! Don't hate me if you hate it!
Also agree on Marcus - love him and Honoria together.

I like that idea. I'm sure it would give us a chance to share more great reads. How do we go about starting it? (Sorry, I've just joined the group).

I liked Marcus too although my favorite in that series was Hugh

Yes, this's pretty much how I feel about Westcliff. Ugh, he's my ALL TIME favorite hero; I reeeaaaaally like him.
Plus, I loved Ransom from Romancing the Duke. Like, he's all dark and grumpy, but also just so lovable and gentle. <3333
Oh! And ofc, there's Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice), a mandatory character on a list like this IMO, hehe.

It's the one where the heroine is governess to the hero's younger sisters and he (view spoiler) .

Confession time (since we're adding classics): I dislike Mr. Darcy. There. I said it. He's too broody and annoying for my tastes. I prefer the sunny, open, easy-going and teasing kind like Mr. Tilney from Northanger Abbey :D
Although I do have a sweet spot for Mr. Thornton from North and South (a brooding, stuffy idiot if ever there was one), but I blame Richard Armitage of the BBC mini series for that :D

I think so? I don't remember that one either. I do remember wanting to change my initial 5 star rating after the last re-read because I didn't enjoy it the second time around, but... No idea really. Unlike Marcus and Hugh, he left absolutely no impression on me...

I love Henry Tilney! So much more personality!
He's JAs most awesome hero in my book!

Overall, I love JA for her Heroines.

Yes, that's the one. I wasn't disposed to liking Daniel based on the first novel. I thought he was a rather selfish character and his novel did little to change that opinion. It was the weakest of the bunch, in my opinion.

Mr. Thornton has that self-made man appeal, I think, but then there is also Richard Armitage.
Mr. Darcy does have the Colin Firth appeal ...... though Elizabeth is what makes P&P a good read for me

That's exactly why I love him, lol!
The nice, sunny ones comes across as slightly boring.

Ditto!
Wentworth his my favorite too. I love that he waited for Anne so long. *sigh*
