I'm so confused. Can someone please explain to me what sophomore, freshman, junior and senior are and what order they are in?

I'm sorry, I live in the United States and assumed incorrectly most other Goodreads people did as well.
Ninth grade is freshman year. (15 years old)
Tenth grade Is sophomore year. (16 years old)
Eleventh grade is junior year. (17 years old)
Twelfth and final grade is senior year. (18 years old)
Does that make sense? They name each year of high school.
