Sha | 112 comments Fables, Vol. 1: Legends in Exile

It's a comic book series and not a novel, but very similar to OUAT in that it's complex crossover stories of multiple fairy tales set in the modern era.

Other fairy tale based books I'd recommend are Bryony and Roses, The Seventh Bride and The Goose Girl. Fairytale retellings are an entire genre onto themselves but these are the ones I thought have the best characters. They are retellings of Beauty and the Beast, Bluebeard and The Goose Girl respectively.

Cheryl (cherylllr) The Five Hundred Kingdoms series, by Mercedes Lackey, maybe? First is The Fairy Godmother.

You might like Alice Takes Back Wonderland. Alice opposes a plot to take the wonder out of Wonderland characters with the help of Peter Pan, Pinocchio and others.

J.W. | 229 comments Thanks for the recommendations! I am definitely looking for a series, with interwoven fairy tales.

message 9: by Trike (new)

Trike Jackson Pearce has a series of books that might fill the bill. I haven't read them but they popped up on my radar around the time the Lightning Thief books were adapted to movies. (Maybe those books would scratch the same itch?)

Anyway, the first book is Sisters Red Sisters Red (Fairytale Retellings, #1) by Jackson Pearce , then Sweetly Sweetly (Fairytale Retellings, #2) by Jackson Pearce , and others.

J.W. | 229 comments I picked up Lackey's Fairy Godmother and I'm loving it. Will be trying several others recommended here as well. Thank you!

Meagan | 84 comments The Lunar Chronicles is awesome! They are all fractured fairytales with sci-fi elements mixed in. Cinder is Cinderella. The second book Scarlet is little red riding hood. Cress is the third book and that is about Rapunzel and the last book is Winter and that is about snow white. They are all interconnected beautifully. Each main character is in all of the books, it's just written from one of their perspectives.
