Sonja (sonjac) | 1364 comments Hi Mary Megan!
Sorry it took so much to get this done! Been a busy weekend and I really hate trying to do this on my Kindle or laptop so waiting until I got to my desktop is better all around.
We didn't have much in common, but I did add a few of your books to my to-read list and hopefully I found a few new ones that spark your interest as well! Happy Reading!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - first in a series, features a famous character OR has magical elements
TBR: The Best Man - First in series
NEW: A Knight in Shining Armor - Magical elements (time travel) - I know you don't typically read historicals, but this one actually starts out in modern (circa 1980/90s) day. I also noted you read Jude Deveraux and this is one of her oldies. I'm not normally a time travel reader either, but this one... nailed it.
The Best Man (Blue Heron, #1) by Kristan Higgins A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - the plot involves a character who needs saving, features a unique character OR a book you wish you’d written
TBR: The Uninvited - 'Butcher' Bedford sounds very unique!
TBR: Moondance Beach - unique character (h) and character who needs saving (H) - and it sounds interesting! I've saved the series to read myself!
The Uninvited (Krewe of Hunters, #8) by Heather Graham Moondance Beach (Bayberry Island, #3) by Susan Donovan

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - features a ‘bad’ boy/girl, features a shapeshifter OR is a retelling
TBR: The Hotter You Burn - bad boy
TBR: About That Night - bad boy (released from prison - how appropriate!)
The Hotter You Burn (The Original Heartbreakers, #2) by Gena Showalter About That Night (FBI/US Attorney, #3) by Julie James

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - set in a European country, has an enemies to lovers theme or similar OR has a dragon/fiery character
TBR: The Winter Sea - set in Europe (Scotland)
NEW: Midnight on Julia Street - enemies/lovers theme, fiery character (Corlis) and so good! Give it a little time... once the author sets the stage for the history and modern day, it gets really good!
The Winter Sea (Slains, #1) by Susanna Kearsley Midnight on Julia Street (Time Travel, #1) by Ciji Ware

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - features law enforcement or a private detective, is humorous OR is a long book
TBR: Raging Heat - Law Enforcement
NEW: The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires - I laughed myself stupid with this one. I don't normally do the vampire fiction and I wasn't impressed with the second book, but this one cracked me up! Love the heroine's snarky, quick comebacks and how she sets the hero in his place!
Raging Heat (Nikki Heat, #6) by Richard Castle The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half-Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - features nobility, a book that was previously recommended to you OR a good vs. evil theme
TBR: Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord - features nobility
NEW: Archer's Voice - this one was recommended to me a few months ago and I'm still not over it, it was so good.
Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord (Love By Numbers, #2) by Sarah MacLean Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - has an epic ending to either the series or book, a dark cover OR features wonderful secondary characters
TBR: First Star I See Tonight - dark cover and now on my to-read list!
NEW: The Duchess War - Great secondary characters! I LOVE Courtney Milan's writing and the Brothers Sinister series is fabulous IMHO. Not only are the primary characters intriguing, but the secondary characters are as well - particularly the 'Brothers'. Yes it's historical.
First Star I See Tonight (Chicago Stars, #8) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips The Duchess War (Brothers Sinister, #1) by Courtney Milan

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - set in New York, has a historical setting OR is a new release
TBR: Close Enough to Touch - set in New York (upstate) and released this year - and sounds really fascinating!
TBR/NEW: The Girl from the Paradise Ballroom - historical setting and richly poignant read!
Close Enough to Touch by Colleen Oakley The Girl from the Paradise Ballroom by Alison Love

message 114: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31601 comments KathyD, here you go - finally! Your shelves are always dangerous for me, but I did manage to find some new ones for you. Most of the new ones are either new-to-you authors (on your shelf or not) or books by authors you've enjoyed, but don't have on your shelves yet. The TBR books are mostly from your preferred shelf. (Hopefully, I caught all the typos, but apologies in advance if I missed any!)

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
TBR: *Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost - Famous, magical and first in series!
NEW: *Him by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy - First in series and so, so good!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
TBR: *Rescue My Heart by Jill Shalvis - By the name, I'm sure you can guess someone needs rescuing! I loved this series!
NEW: *The Lightning-Struck Heart by T.J. Klune - Lord are there unique characters in this book! Laugh out loud funny and quirky to boot! In the mood for something fun, but far from the usual, listen to this one!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
TBR: *How to Wish Upon a Star by Eli Easton - Shapeshifters and fun!
NEW: *A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James - Cinderella retold, great fairy tale series!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
TBR: *On Her Master's Secret Service by Lexi Blake - I don't recall if this was set partially in Europe, and more of a second chance than enemies to lovers, but definitely a love/hate aspect to this story! And it is great to get the H&h's history and see them heal! ( I wish the audios were coming out faster in this series!!)
NEW: *Sweet Release by Pamela Clare - More love/hate in this one! And you liked her other historicals, this is just more of PC's greatness. Pair it Kaleo Griffith's greatness and you have perfection!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
TBR: *Seduction in Death by J.D. Robb - Law enforcement doesn't get better than with Roarke and Eve!
NEW: Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec - Irreverently funny!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
TBR: *Truce by R.L. Mathewson or *Midnight's Kiss by Thea Harrison - Different types of nobility, depending on your mood!
NEW: *The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen - I had this recommended over and over, finally the audio came out so I gave it a try. I wasn't let down!!

✨🏰 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
TBR: *Skin Deep by Pamela Clare - With the I-Team and the guys as secondary characters, you can't go wrong! I read this before the audio came out, good thing PC's books are good for a reread!
NEW: *The One Real Thing by Samantha Young - Great friends are just part of this series!

✨🏰 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
TBR: *Cream of the Crop by Alice Clayton - Set in Hudson Valley and NYC, another good Alice Clayton book!
NEW: *Joy Ride or The Only One by Lauren Blakely - Both set in NY, and I love her writing!

I marked the ones I listened to and enjoyed with an asterisk since I know you are a fellow audiobook lover - and then realized they are almost all marked... I'm mostly listening these days! I hope you find one or two (or more) that interest you for July!

Here are my picks for you. While we have a number of books in common, I think your general reading tastes are different than mine, so I hope that I found some new books that will be of interest to you. I think I went more towards books I enjoyed because every time I thought I found something specifically designed for you, you'd already read it (although you generally gave those high marks). Shelby (stang_lee) | 1970 comments Ugh! I need to apologize to Heather Cam. I'm soooooo sorry I didn't get to pick for you this month. I went home for a friends wedding and the internet at my mom's place was practically nonexistent. I didn't realize how late in the month I was getting home and signed in today to make sure I caught up with everything only now realizing I needed to have things posted yesterday.

So sorry you had to wait. I really hate when I fail at the timing on these things. Again I apologize profusely.

I just finished Cinder Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer , and it was fabulous, My niece INSISTED that I read it first because she just loved it, and I must say it was refreshingly different. I am very glad I read it, and would not have normally picked it up except for your recommendation and her push to do it. Thanks!
