Rachel Adiyah | 88 comments I recently watched the movie, "Logan's Run", and I was really appalled how it was nothing like it's source novel. I mean, it was just really bad and compared to the book made no sense at all. Why were they living in one dome near Washington D.C.? And - SPOILER - there was no Sanctuary and everyone lived until 30. So what was the point of chasing Runners in one city? What the heck was that "Renew" ceremony where everyone burned up at the ceiling? The novel was rather logical and it took place in a worldwide setting, with Logan as a very cold young man taking his final trophy. Read the novel, FORGET the movie. (Also forget the sequels; they were terrible.)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 23 comments Starship Troopers - the movie only shares character names and a smidgen of the plot.

All You Need Is Kill - this became "Edge of Tomorrow." The mimics are similar and the Full Metal Bitch has that nickname in a few places. Other than that... I mean, they CREATED a whole new main character! And the rest of the whole flipping movie. But it was fun (the movie) while the book was more introspective.

alesandra (a1icexxm) | 1 comments A Wrinkle in Time. The twins weren't even included and the plot wasn't followed exactly how it was in the book.

Chloe | 5 comments All of the Mortal Instrument adaptations (BOTH the movie and tv series) were unfaithful to the plot

Oh, that movie is horrible!

I think most people would agree that the Percy Jackson movie did not resemble the books :P"

My first thought exactly!

Finally someone who won't argue with me on this!

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 35 comments The award-winning 2019 movie Jojo Rabbit was absolutely nothing like the book Caging Skies by Christine Leunens. I saw the movie with some friends and I loved it. I'd also received the book as a Goodreads giveaway a few months prior, so I picked it up a few months later to compare them. Let's just say, if I had read the book before I had seen the movie, I would have never watched the movie! But the movie turns something with terrible writing and cringey characters into a masterpiece, and for once I'm really glad I saw the movie before reading the book.

Abigail Jose (abzhozay) The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. Back when I use to read his books, this one was one of my favorites. Years later, I watched the movie adaptation and it was literal trash. Smh.

They made a movie of that?

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 342 comments I refuse to watch the Wrinkle in Time movie. I don't want to see that book butchered.

I liked the movie versions of The Book Thief and Field of Dreams (Shoeless Joe) better than the books, but they were fairly accurate.

˙⋆✮ Anny ✮⋆˙ (annithebookprincess) The Vampire Diaries. It's a tv show, but it still didn't resemble the books. Some of the characters have different names, some are completely new characters. I still like the tv show better, but that could also be because I started watching that before I read the books.

Mashal Ahmad | 11 comments I don't usually watch the movies based on my fav books. once I watched Inferno bya Dan Brown and they have changed alot of stuff there, I was really disappointed.

message 66: by Chris (new)

Chris Gager (chrisinmaine) | 62 comments Michael Mann's "The Last of the Mohicans" was off and on faithful to the book, but the ending was changed completely as to who lives and dies. This was done so that Hawkeye(Daniel Day Lewis) and Cora(Madeline Stowe) could have a tepid romance.

stu (blobmustardsprinkles) | 704 comments Percy Jackson, the movies were terrible they were nothing like the books. The weird part was that I think the movies are terrible but I watched them twice.

message 70: by Shawna (new)

Shawna Finnigan (sugoishawn) | 814 comments The Maze Runner movies didn't resemble the books, but the movies were honestly so much better than the books. I don't like James Dashner's style of writing and some things about the books were just weird and confusing
