John Seymour I made my lists
I checked them twice
Because it would be naughty
To post incorrect results twice

No, that's not a hint that Christmas Carol won. No drama this month, the Popular Vote Winner was Hallucinating Foucault by Patricia Duncker. The Weighted Vote Winner was City of God by E.L. Doctorow. A relatively modest 19 other books received votes this month and so were tossed into the Randomizer, which dutifully spit out Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

So, in summary:

Popular Vote Winner - Hallucinating Foucault, by Patricia Duncker

Weighted Vote Winner - City of God, by E.L. Doctorow

Random Selection - Notes from Underground, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

So share with us your reading plans for July.

Diane | 2044 comments I am excited that Hallucinating Foucault was chosen as it is also a July BOTM in a group I moderate. I also look forward to reading City of God. I will pass on Notes from Underground as I read it either last year or the year before. I will try to get back to reading the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, too.

I'll read Duncker and Doctorow only, already have read the Notes. But this will wait until August. In the meantime, I'll keep ploughing through my BOTM backlog, read the third part of the Three Kingdoms and one of the books under the Seventh Labour of our Hercules Challenge (which shall be revealed in the next few days).

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments City of God will no longer languish on the shelf! I've read both Notes from Underground and Hallucinating Foucault, and both are really good. LOTR is one of my all time favorites, but I don't think I'll reread this year. Thanks to Patrick, I finally got Birdsong off my TBR, and I'm looking forward to whatever he has next.

Pip | 1822 comments I am pleased that all the BOTM are ones I want to read. I am way behind with BOTM and haven't started the Annual read yet, but want to finish The Idiot and West this month.

John Seymour I have City of God, so will read that. I may finish the original by Augustine of Hippo too.

I wouldn't think I would get to it, given how slowly Infinite Jest is going, but leaving on a cruise on Saturday, so with all that reading time, I expect to finish Jest by the end of the month, as well as Time's Arrow. So I guess I will get started on the 3Q Seasonal Read - Lord of the Rings. It's been over 30 years, so about time for a re-read.

I have not read any of them, well, I maybe read Notes From Underground but I don't remember so I could read all. I need to finish Infinite Jest. I have less than 20% left.

Paula S (paula_s) | 220 comments The only one I have on hand is Notes from the Underground, so since I have a self-imposed book-buying-ban, my goal for July is to read that and try to catch up on previous months' books.

I will read all three BOTM. I've already read LoTR several times so will not be rereading it again
