Not if you want to lead the discussion. I am dealing with some health issue and concentration is an issue for me at this point.

I can lead the discussion if it wins. It's a favorite book of a friend of mine.
I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you. Okay, no problem then, if it wins you can lead the discussion. We can set the reading schedule to encompass six, seven, or eight weeks. Will that work for you?

And, fyi, the time frame that we will be reading this book (Aug/Sept) is the end of vacation season and the beginning of the school year here in the States (I can't speak for any other country), folks (especially parents get busy) and participation might be limited.

Yes, whichever way is fine.

I think you'll do fine. I'll assist if you need it.

I'll consider any other author that could be classified as science fiction, however, please note that for October we'll be doing Goth/Horror/Fantasy for Halloween so I'd like to reserve Frankenstein, Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and the like for nominations then.
While Wells wrote/was published through 1941, he did have 19 books that were published in the our time period of 1800 through 1910. We have not read any of his books within the last two years so all 19 of those books are eligible to be nominated.
All but one of Jules Verne's books fit our time period. The Barsac Mission was the eighth book to be published posthumously in 1914 and therefore would be excluded from eligiblity. We have not read any of Verne's books in the last two years.
I'm limiting the nominations to five (5) books. Each member can nominate one book. The nomination thread will be closed in one week or when five books have been nominated - whichever comes first.
