Kirsty | 1307 comments This challenge will be a team reading challenge, which will run from July 1st to July 31st inclusively. Winners will be announced on August first ☺

To earn points in this challenge, all you need to do is tell us why you chose to read each book you read during the challenge. Books can fit into several categories, or if you want you can suggest a new category ☺

Categories:
- Read a book with a cover that you l♡ve
- Read a book by an author that you l♡ve
- Read a book from a genre that you l♡ve
- Read a book you got for free! (can be kindle freebies, review copies etc.)
- Read a book that was recommended to you by a friend, or read one of your friend's favourite books. (feel free to browse mine and Abbie's shelves if you're stuck ☺)
- Read a BIG book! (over 500 pages)
- Read a book with a character you l♡ve

Points:
*100 - 199 pages = 1 point
*200 - 299 pages = 2 points
*300 - 399 pages = 3 points
*400 - 499 pages = 4 points
*500 - 599 pages = 5 points
*600+ pages = 6 points
(maximum of 6 points per book)
*Buddy reads DOUBLE your points score, so a 300 page book + buddy read = 6 points. 600 page book + buddy read = 12 points. (Bonus points for buddy reads will only be given if the buddy read has taken place in our group.)

Rules:
* This challenge will run from July 1st to July 31st, with results announced on August 1st.
* Books must be at least 100 pages in length, 150 pages for middle grade books, and 300 pages for poetry books/books written in verse.
*Buddy reads must have a minimum of 4 comments to count.
*4 detailed updates can be used instead of a review.
*You can find our regular challenge rules here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
* Manga, picture books, books with more pictures than words do not count. You may read non-fiction for this challenge, but if your book has mainly pictures, you will not be able to use it (eg: a cookery book which is mainly pictures would not count)
* You can use books started prior to July, but may only claim the number of pages read in July.

Girlie (girliek) | 18 comments Hi Kirsty! I can't open the link of the regular challenge rules. This is my first time(yay!) and I have no idea how to start. Haha! I have a lot of questions like how do I tell you what book/s am I reading? Thanks a lot!

Kirsty | 1307 comments Hi here are the regular challenge rules:

1. For every book read during a challenge, you must submit a review or a minimum of 4 status updates, with details specific to the book, for your book to count towards a challenge. This is to keep things fair for everybody. It is not that we don't trust you if you say you have read a book, but I'm sure everybody would agree that it would be unfair of us to award points to someone who has not actually read the book they say they have read. Please do not be offended if we ask you to add details to your review. Simple things like what you liked and disliked about the book are a good place to start.

2. Buddy reads only count for extra points if they are done within our group. We want people to buddy read, but we feel it is only fair to give extra points to those people who are active in the group, especially when prizes are involved.

3. A buddy read won't count if you haven't actually discussed the book. We expect you to make around 4 detailed comments for your buddy read to count. Saying 'Starting', 'chapter 4', 'finished' will not count as you haven't actually discussed the book. Again, comments about what you liked and disliked about the book are a good place to start.

4. Books have to be 100 pages or longer to count towards challenges. You should be able to find the number of pages in a physical book, on goodreads, or on amazon.
Middle-Grade books need to be at least 150 pages (without illustrations) to count.
Poetry books, and books written in verse need to be at least 300 pages to count.

5. Each book can only be used once during each individual challenge. If your book fits two or more challenges that are being run at the same time, you can use it once in each challenge. More details regarding how you can use books in challenges will be provided with each individual challenge.

6. Manga, picture books, books with more pictures than words do not count. You may read non-fiction, but if your book has mainly pictures, you will not be able to use it (eg: a cookery book which is mainly pictures would not count).

7. 1 Re-read is allowed per challenge, unless otherwise stated. We ask that you write a new review (if you have already written one), and make sure that you have important details included so that we know that you have definitely re-read the book. Again, this is to keep things fair for everybody.

8. Books must be read within the challenge dates to qualify. All challenges will clearly state '* Books must be read between -start date- and -end date- inclusively'. Please make sure that your 'date started' and 'date finished' dates on your review are within these dates. If you are based in Australia, or are massively ahead of goodreads time (Pacific Standard Time - http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time... ) please let us know in advance so that we can expect your start times to be a few hours out.

9. Reviews must be unique and your own. Plagerised reviews will not be accepted, and you will be removed from the challenge if caught cutting and pasting someone else's reviews.

Don't worry if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them :) You can tell us in the chat what you are currently reading and you can mark the books that you are currently reading. Then once you've finished you post a link in the review thread you can see the format in the review thread.

Thank you Kirsty! You're so sweet! :) Is this the chat you're referring to? I have so many questions because this is my first time please forgive me I just want to try this and meet new book friends around the world :) So today is July 1st already here in the Philippines and I'm going to read Sad Girls by Lang Leav and The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich. What do I do next? :)

message 11: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments Yes, this is the chat :) So all you need to do is mark the book as currently reading on Goodreads and read it. For the challenge, you can either make 4 detailed updates as you read the book or write a review once you've finished. I personally prefer to write a review at the end but you can do whatever works for you. Then once you've finished you need to link it in the the review thread which is linked at the top. Hope this helps :)

Last night I started and finished (read in one sitting) Everything, Everything which was for the challenge recommended to me/friends favourite book :)

Girlie (girliek) | 18 comments Hi Kirsty, I have a question. Is it okay if we don't finish the book at the end of July? :)

message 29: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 1307 comments This challenge finishes at the end of July so wouldn't be able to use it for this challenge. I f you are taking part in August's challenge you would be able to count the pages that you read in August.

I'm sorry I haven't read a lot, I'm working full time now so I don't get to read as much as I used to.

Songbird Bookworm | 147 comments Finished Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare now reading Replica (Replica, #1) by Lauren Oliver
