Gian (brambleberry) | 6 comments Hello! It's my first time posting a discussion here. I came to realize that recntly, I've been getting books that are part of a series, and some of which are not yet complete/finished. I'd like to know what you guys would recommend as a stand alone novel. I'm fine with any theme as long as it does not solely revolve on romance.

CrazyAsACupcake | 88 comments The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is one of my favourite stand alone books. It isn't really romance based though there is an element of it, and it gives a whole new meaning to war novels - being both from the point of view of Death and from the side of the Germans. It's a really interesting book and it's both heartwarming and heartbreaking so I would recommend you give it a try :)

Lynne Stringer | 344 comments I quite enjoyed Charisma by Jeanne Ryan, although the reviews seem mixed. Charisma by Jeanne Ryan

If you like fantasy, Juliet Marillier's Heart's Blood is a good one. Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier

Or you could try my standalone novel, Once Confronted. :-)

emi (misssweetness) | 36 comments If you're looking for classics, I recommend Jane Eyre, Of Mice and Men or the Great Gatsby. Also, I love Jane Austen's books - they're all standalones too. Now as for contemporaries, I recommend Fangirl, Emmy and Oliver and Catching Jordan :)
